I was drawn for the December 7th hunt at Balcones. Have been assigned compartment 8. Was wondering if anyone has experience hunting there . Any areas that might be good to hunt? Is it accessible by 2wd or will I need to take my ATV ? All help appreciated.

see my response in the balcones youth thread. as far as an ATV, not sure you can use it. if it gets muddy, the unit we were on got real sloppy

I will be out scouting there this weekend, I drew unit 7 on the Nov 17-19 hunt. I talked to the Wildlife Officer there and he said the only you may use an ATV for is game retrieval, and you may not drive off road at all. He said I would be able to get in the same places with a 4wd truck so I don't think I will bring an ATV for the hunt. He did say the roads would be messy if there is a lot of rain before the hunt. I will let you know what I see and find out while I'm there.
What you really need is a 300 Winchester Magnum. That is the best caliber on the planet, probably even in the solar system and maybe the universe. Go get him! Shoot him in the face!
