All IN, for a great hunt and time, what's this trip cost? Besides shells what are some hidden costs, fee's etc.
Airfare secrets?
Don't know if these shoots come in "Good:, "Better" , "Best" or all the same.
anyway I know many of the THF'rs have been. I am toying with it but My name doesn't have "Dr. in front or Attorney at Law" behind it.
so I'm probably out, lets see

Cordoba is where it all goes on generally speaking or around there. 5k is a budget I'd be on per person for total trip shells included. You fly into Buenos Aires then take a jumper flight to Cordoba. I looked at doing it with some friends years ago and it was gonna be more than what I wanted to spend. I like to shoot em, but I like to eat what I shoot. Not just looking to kill. There's plenty of em down there. The doves are considered a pest down there. Shells can run almost 15 a box down there. It was a two gun minimum where I looked into also. Meaning you had to rent or bring a minimum of two guns with you. You have to tip the bird boys. My buddies said all the birds or meat was donated to a local orphanage. I've never been, so I may be completely wrong. I did some heavy looking into it though a few years back.

Yeah I own property out west, it's very hard to beat. Last yr was awesome. Buzz has hunted my property before. For the cost of that trip you could hunt a lifetime of day hunts on good properties in West tx

Guys.. I just posted up an ad for my outfitter for 2 different hunts. When you look at the daily cost, and whats included, they really are not that expensive. Shells are the wild card at $14 a box. Some guys shoot 10-12 boxes a day, and some shoot 20 to 30 or more. On the mixed bag hunts you don't burn through near as many shells as a pure high volume hunt. I did a lot of research before going on the hunt I did. So even though I've only been over once, I gathered a lot of data I don't mind sharing.

A good way to save some money would be to buy the hunt package at an auction. A lot get donated to CCA or DU banquets and get sold for pennies on the dollar. I've seen 3 day packages for 4 hunters go for as little as $2500. This would be about the only way to really save any money. Shells are pretty much the same everywhere you go, maybe $1/box difference.

What's air fare all in, Dallas to B.A. to Cordoba? might be real expensive depending on travel dates and times Right now you're looking at $1400-1800 if you just fly into BA and have your outfitter pick you up there. My group opted to fly American non-stop because they have the shortest air time (10 hrs). Almost all the flights are red-eye overnight flights coming and going. This is a good flight to save up your travel miles for. You might also ask a travel agent to keep an eye on fares and look for a deal to pop up. Did that on my Africa trip and saved a bunch.

Whatever you think it costs, count on it being a couple thousand more than that. The one thing I was uncomfortable with is that where I was in Cordoba they did not pick up the birds, just let them lay. Out of our group of 13 I was killing about 250 a day which put me at the low end of killed birds ------- 3 guys killed over 1,000 a day each . For any that doubt, I am posting a movie I took,,,, the birds fly like this all day, no let up,,, they do not come in waves, it is just constant all day long. birds Cordoba

In Argentina, dove and parakeets are treated like pests and destroy 20-40% of the local grain crops. Some outfitters will tell you that they gather the birds and feed the local village with them to clear your conscience, but don’t believe them. A small percentage may be recovered, but the logistics of gathering and cleaning hundreds or thousands of birds a day isn’t realistic.

Pica Zuro lodge. Horacio.
The very best.
It's a $5000 trip. More doves die there each day of natural causes than hunters kill. They're a nuisance to the farmers. It's the best trip you'll ever take if you love to shoot a shotgun.

Definitely a minimum of a $5000 investment. I'd rather go to Paloma Pachanga in Hondo TX for a week.

I can shoot clay targets all day. I can kill a lot more birds than I can eat. (I know, you're helping the farmers, right?) I wish I could. It would be fun. But I cannot. In my old age I've become a "live and let live" kind of guy. No judgement though. You guys go and have fun.

Planning a trip there now. We bought a 5-man, 5-day hunt at an auction for $900 ($180 per hunter). In Santiago del Estero rather than Cordoba (from the videos I've seen, and talking with other folks that have gone, doesn't seem to make a difference, constant birds all day every day). The price of the hunt is nothing compared to other expenses though. Airfare to Buenos Aires and a connecting flight to Santiago del Estero is running $1500-$1800 depending on when you go (economy flights). Gun rental is $60/day ($300), birdboys $50/day ($250), hunting license is $120. Shells are $13/box. So, for 8 hunts, 500 rounds per hunt (that's only 20 boxes), you're looking at a shell bill of $2000. Obviously more if you shoot more. Without any incidental costs at all, looking at around $4500 (and that's with buying the hunt at only $180). Checking now to see about the possibility of a mixed-bag hunt to save on the shell bill. Both pigeons and perdiz have limits (100 and 10, respectively). Don't think ducks are a possibility on this hunt. Fairly expensive any way you look at it.

That's a steal if it includes food and lodging. But Santiago del Estero is a lot father from Buenos Aires than Cordoba or Entre Rios(generally the best dove provinces). So I suspect there are added costs associated with getting there as well.

Yep. Food and lodging provided, as well drinks/wine. You're correct on the flights. Sucks to fly 600 miles too far south to just get back on another plane to go 600 miles back north. But, the only flights into Santiago del Estero have to come from Buenos Aires. Adds $333.00 to the flight bill. But, looks now like we can get a flight to Buenos Aires for $1000. Not quite as bad as I thought.

We went back in 2013 with Miles & Miles Outfitters. There were 9 of us in our group and we got the whole lodge. Incredible experience. This was my second time to Cordoba while there were more birds the second time, both times I went was a blast. M&M charged us $2,500 for the hunting and because we booked the hunt at the Dallas SCI show, we got our shells at $10 a box. Hunted the first after noon we arrived and got 6 hunts in total. Gun rental, tips, shells totaled $2,100 (189 boxes), add in flight and you are looking at $6,000 at least. I have seen the Argentina hunts at the auctions and if you can get one there, they are usually at a good discount.

We have a group of 6 going down to Miles and Miles in 2018 (likely July). Id love to hear more about your experience/advice. Our trip is for 4 full days. We are considering a couple of nights in BA on the front end and a couple on the back end. Heard its a fun place. Let me know if you would be willing to share any more insight/advice. Feel free to PM me so as to not take over this thread. Thanks.

Buzzsaw, Bottom line $5000. Just had 10 guys from my area go two weeks ago and that was the average for everyone. Some a few $100 less and some a few $100 more. Based on mainly two things, flying first class and the amount of shells you shoot.

I went to Cordoba back in July and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend Los Chanares if you are looking for an outfitter. As far as a budget, it all depends on your shell bill. They could give the lodging away for free and would still make money on the shells. As far as "hidden costs" I can't think of any. Just remember to factor in the tip for your bird boy and possibly your lodge host. It really is worth the trip. I've noticed that the majority of these guys saying "West Texas is just as good" have never been to Argentina
