What if I grind the deer/hog myself and drop it off? Then there shouldn't be any payment, correct? I'm doing all the work. If not, then I will be eating some ground.

Sent a request for update on program and list of participates.
The program has been moved to:
The Texas Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc
About Hunters for the Hungry
Hunters for the Hungry is a statewide hunger relief program dedicated to providing a healthy source of protein to needy Texans. In Texas, 1 in 5 people struggle to afford food.
The Texas Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc., has worked with the Hunters for the Hungry program for the past two decades, and administered the program directly for 15 years. Since the program’s inception, it has provided nearly 2.5 million pounds of meat – or an estimated 10 million servings – to Texans in need.
In 2013, the Texas Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc., entered into an agreement with the Texas Food Bank Network to take over the Texas Hunters for the Hungry program.
For information on the program, visit the Texas Hunters for the Hungry website or contact Lee Pipkin at (325) 617-2228.
Individuals in need
Hunters for the Hungry does not donate directly to individuals. Individuals in need of food assistance should call 211, visit 211texas.org, or contact a food assistance provider directly.

http://tfbn.org/hunters-for-the-hungry/About the Program Hunters for the Hungry is a statewide hunger relief program dedicated to providing a healthy source of protein to needy Texans. In Texas, 1 in 5 people live in households that struggle to afford food. Hunters for the Hungry facilitates the donation of freshly harvested deer to local food banks through a network of participating processors. Hunters only need to bring their deer to the nearest processor and pay a small processing fee to participate. Since the program’s inception, Texas Hunters for the Hungry has provided nearly 2.5 million pounds of meat – or an estimated 10 million servings – to Texans in need. In 2013, the Texas Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc., entered into an agreement with the Texas Food Bank Network to assume management of the Texas Hunters for the Hungry program. Find a Processor Near You! We are currently assembling a list of processors in Texas. Please check back for a full list, and contact Lee Pipkin below if you require assistance in the meantime. Go to the website listed a few posts up or do a search on Hunters for the Hungry. The website tells interested processor's how to get in touch and get listed. I haven't checked this year but the Dallas Safari Club used to help subsidize the processing fee.

True. You are not allowed by law to pay for it or else I would have tried that years ago LOL. But I can pay for the processing of the deer or I can butcher it myself. Just don't know how to skin it.

2 years ago I had the opportunity to shoot some deer on MLD property, and wanted to donate one of the deer to a food bank. No one would take it. Several places wanted over $100 for their trouble to donate the deer and others said they could not take it due to wild meat and not knowing the condition of the animal. I didn't want to pay this, so I kept the deer. I spent some time finding places to no avail.
If you know of a place around Dallas, or between Breckenridge and Dallas, I'll donate this year.
