I would like to buy a reasonably priced upper but one that functions well. Any suggestions on brand?? I know money buys quality usually but somewhere in there is a middle ground where value and quality meet and that is what I am looking for. I have a DPMS 556 and want to change over to 300 Black Out for pigs!

I have an AAC 16" and a Noveske 8.2". Both have been great. Neither are cheap.
As for Radical, I have a 6.5 Grendel and a 458 from them. The 6.5 runs awesome, the 458 runs horrible and I wish I had gone with a different brand.

In my opinion, unless you are trying to go subsonic there are better options for shooting pigs. 300 blackout will do it for shorter distances. For supersonic and possibly longer ranges, I think the 6.8 SPC or the 6.5 Grendel are better choices. If I am going pig hunting and shooting supersonic rounds, I'll take the 6.5 every time. Some will say 6.5 is expensive. I just bought 6 boxes of Hornady Black ELD Match for under $16 per box shipped from Brownells.

Me too. My thermal rig and SBR's are all Radical Uppers. No problems with any of them and I've had probably 4-5.

I also have a PSA Upper that works great.

I have a Radical upper pistol in 300 blk that works great. No issues what so ever, for your reference I am running it suppressed with supersonic rounds mostly but have not had many issues with the few boxes of subsonic that I have put through it.

Just be careful with the radical arms stuff. I see more bad then good even though these guys abovehave been lucky so far

I converted one for under $100 with a CMMG barrel and it shoots 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100 yards. I've never tried subs but it cycles perfectly with supers, never had a malfunction of any kind. Best shooter of my 5 Blackouts.

If you have the tools, I would build my own so that I know the quality of the components.

Your barrel and bolt two key components to a accurate rifle don’t cheap out on a lot of junk barrels floating around nowadays

I bought my first one from Red-X arms.

They all kill pretty good.

can't go wrong with a BCM upper ... you don't have to order it with the BCG and charging handle, i used the ones off my current 556 (I have a Knights Armament lower w/a Noveske upper, ACOG on the Noveske and an Armasight thermal on my BCM)

i have a cmmg and i have had no issues. It shoots really well

My first one was a Sota arms upper through a group buy on here, shot right at MOA. Had another one built with 16" BHW barrel and MI gen 2 13.5"ss rail. Its shoots well and I like it a lot. Probably going to buy one of the PSA complete 300blk uppers next time they run them on sale cheap, have had good luck with their products so far.

You can use your upper receiver, bolt group and install a Wilson Combat SS match barrel, about 300.00 Might have to buy gas block and tube, about 35.00. Than you have a high end rifle.
