Anyone have experience with either the MP 2.0 5 inch barrel or a canik tp9sfx? I’m waffling between the two. I’m usually a SW person but like some of the features on the Canik.

Shoot/handle both if you can. Buy the one you like best. Everything I've seen about the Canik has been good.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

The Canik is very nice and affordable from what I have heard but after handling a M&P 2.0 I would jump at that. I love the grip texture and feel of the new trigger.
What are you planning on using the guns for? Home defense, competition, carry?

Hard to beat the features of the 2.0 I have one and don't regret buying it for a minute. The triggers just keep getting better as you shoot them and the variations of the grip make it fit everyone.

I agree with the good reports on the 2.0. I played with one yesterday at Academy and it felt very nice. My next pistol will be a 2.0 Compact.

I have had great experience with the three Canik pistols I own. They are an excellently manufactured firearm. Even with that, I'd have a hard time buying a TP9 over the new M&P 2.0. S&W just got so many things right with this one.

I have no experience with the Canik but have a M&P 2.0 5 inch and really like it.

I am biased and I admit that up front. I am 64 years old and after owning/shooting a lot of guns over the years, I have never owned any gun that was more reliable than any of my three Canik's.
Does that mean that I think the TP9 is better? No, but it is an endorsement for you to find what features that you like in each - without worrying about reliability as a deciding factor.

I just ordered the tp9sfx. I'm planning to run it with a red dot on. According to the reviews the trigger and the accuracy are pretty stellar.....Especially for a $500 gun.

Marc I like the way you said that, Marc. Very thoughtful comment.

I have both. I enjoy both of them as well. If you want to mount an optic than the TP9SFX is a no brained with the great trigger and it’s price point. I really like the M&P 2.0’s grip. It’s very ergonomic and the stippling isn’t too rough. It’s shoots awesome too. I have a Delta Point Pro on the Canik I love how fast I can shoot with the red dot. With that fantastic trigger and the optic it’s just too easy. It all comes down to what your budget and what you want out of each one for your needs. Hope this helps.
