I'm going pronghorn antelope hunting this weekend and it has been raining there with a chance of more rain. Has anyone ever hunted them in the rain? Will this hurt the hunt or help it?

Depending on where you are going, the only thing it will hurt is accessibility as far as roads. And if you were planning on hunting them over water, make a new plan.
Hunted my first one in the wet in Stratford a couple years ago. Got kind of stuck a few times, but we killed two bucks in 15 hours on less than a section of land.

Bring chains and a longgggg tow rope.
But yes have shot a few in the rain. It can mess up an Archery waterhole hunt but rifle not so much.

I have killed them in the rain and in the dry makes no difference you will just get wet trying to close the last 200 yards for a shot. Less dust when you drag him out though. Should be less snakes also. Go have fun rain or shine, antelope hunting is a rare treat.

Electrical tape over the muzzle, good bikini scope cover and your rain gear. Good to go.

Good luck guys! Back in the 80s, I killed my first pronghorn on an archery hunt near Alpine. I had planned on hunting the water holes, but it had been flooding. The good thing is that they move all day so by watching I was able to get up on one that had moved into some low but heavy cover to get away from the rain. I missed the first shot 20 yards, couldn't believe it and was immediately disappointed as it took off. I stood and shouted at it, and as it spun around to look the 50-yards back to me, the cedar shaft and fixed blade broadhead were already on the way. I could see that it was focused on the arrow in flight and it watched that shaft travel all the way to it and enter the front of its own chest. The arrow shaft exited the bottom of the brisket; you got to love a heavy, dense arrow shaft. It trotted about 20 yards and fell over dead!
That pronghorn ended up being a State record for a bit. I hunted with a custom Kodiak Takedown, and that animal had everything to do with an opportunity to meet with Fred Bear during a Shot Show. I was at the Bear booth, and an employee whispered to him that "I was the guy that had taken the State record" and he asked me "to come up and visit him" when he went to their hospitality room. I had taken the lower limb of my bow with me to the show with the hopes of meeting him, and the visited ended up being private in another room without any distractions. For a guy, that as a kid, had grown up with his films on the American Sportsman, I cannot describe how special this visit was. He was as humble, and genuine, as any fellow, I've ever shared a camp with. With compounds ruling sales he was very pleased to talk with a fellow recurve hunter and yes, he gladly autographed the limb!
There have been many pronghorns since and I no longer bowhunt because of a shoulder injury. The worries of wet weather brought back the memories.

I was going to say that we hunted in a snowstorm in Wyoming and the real issue was trying to shoot in 30 mph winds, rather than spotting game. After a companion missed a shot, we gave up for the day because of the conditions, but the pronghorn seemed to deal with the situation without too much difficulty.

Antelope stay out in the flat open areas as a rule, no matter what the weather. Rain shouldn't make much of a difference to them....but it can be a trial to you!
