looks like a member of the sedge family(a lot of different varieties), but most sedges are quite a bit taller. could still be just got dry and ran out of water. some duck biologist people will say certain varieties are good for ducks. some varieties even produce a tuber in the root system that ducks(mallards in particular) will pull up and eat. minimal amounts of this activity are all that I have ever personally observed out of sedges. have a lot of it come up naturally and have not disked and left some areas here and there over the years(or didn't disk because it was too wet) and they do not receive much if any duck use compared to flooded grain or aquatics in the same pond

"nutgrass" is a type of sedge. there is a long list of sedges/nutsedges that are known to be found in texas, some of which are very similar. not including varieties found in other parts of the country and even on other continents that could be growing here.

I hope the ducks like it!

Typically occurs with a late summer draw down. Not sure if that variety has tubers or not. Bet you can pull it out and see. Had a lot of it come up here in August after dried up
