thats a good idea and I am not a cop of anykind and I can assure you I am not spineless (in fact I would consider a comment like that an invitation)

Never said you were spineless. Just said I saw where you stood on cops breaking the law. You read more into that than was meant. An invitation to what?

LOL thats what I was going to ask...an invitation to what?

I think he was directing that at me, Brad.

Cleatus, I wasnt trying to flip your switch. You just cant lay down for cops like that is all I was saying. Laying down for cops is the behavior of spineless jellyfish. If your not spineless, then do your part in preserving all of our rights.

Its frustrating to see people not see the big picture. Everyone, at some point, will have to do their part in standing up for our rights, whether its join the military and keep the wolves from our door or being a simple housewife and voting. This is simply one of those instances and you are encouraging us to "cooperate" with criminals so I hope you understand my frustration. If not, do what you will and I will do what I will and all will be right with the world.

Cooperate with criminals?!?!?!?! You must be one of the corrupt cops or a spineless jellyfish. You go right ahead and give up the rights our veterans fought and died for. You really should respect what others have done for you more than just rolling over and behaving like some oppressed sheep. The more people blindly "cooperate" the more over the line these pigs will step until they are waltzing in your front door and inspecting your own home..."just because they want to."

I will retain and fight for rights and freedoms because they are the most precious thing we have as American citizens.

this is what my comments were directed toward and all I am saying is when I get pulled over its better to cooperate take my ticket and go on and its never turned into more than that, but I think the attitude is why they want to search a lot of the time and where i am from you dont call people things like spineless jellyfish unless you want your a$$ whipped

I have no problem with a LEO writing me a ticket for something I did. This has happened more than a few times and I have always been polite and paid my fines. I respect those that uphold the law, and will always do so. It is just the few bad apples that piss me off. I have only run across a few of them in my life, and now I have prepared for another run in with them. I now have my camera in the car, and will fight them in court.

This is what you wrote "this is why its better to cooperate
"

And that was directed at a illegal search. I don't feel it is best to co-operate in that situation. If the cop is being polite and doing his job by the book he will get my full co-operation, except for searching my car.

my point was that not-cooperating and getting an attitude can induce the search and planting of the dope, you dont realy think that cop was out to get Mr. Ash from the beginning do you or could it be he didnt like his attitude

Not sure, but I have been stopped and treated like crap in the past for no reason. I finally had enough, and any cop doing it again will see me in his bosses office with a copy of my video. And it will not stop there, I promise I will do everything in my power to have that cop removed even if it means giving up my free time to pursue it.

Well maybe it has something to do with me putting over 3000 miles on my car in the last 14 days.

I have only had a issue in 2 counties, and in one county it has happened multiple times. I have been pulled over many times for speeding, and these are the only instances where the cops over stepped their bounds.

I can tell you that my attitude throughout this entire event was nothing short of respectful and benevolent aside from not cooperating with the violation of my rights.

This cop was out ot prove something...that he was Johhny Law and he was God and if I didnt like that, he was going to punish me.

I have never been disrespectful to any police officer, even when being arrested for this kind of BS. That is one losing proposition. You are right that some police will overstep their boundaries if you hurt their feelings but I assure you that was not the case with my situation.

I get that your initial call for cooperation was based on an honest cop but you overlooked the discussions topic from the beginning. Our responses were directed at the idea of cooperating with crooked cops which is what you appeared to be defending at the time.

Im glad we are clear now. We agree.

It is funny how different peoples lives are so different. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. Some people get exactly what they deserve while others get nothing they deserve.

Dont think you will be able to judge me by the events in my life. Just be glad you havent had any of these experiences. Maybe you should have just one so you will understand. If you ever do encounter one such as mine, I hope you stand up for yourself. You would be doing the rest of us a favor at the same time.

Now you are starting the name calling when you threw a fit about someone doing it to you. You don't know me or anything about me. I have met many on this forum that can speak for my personality. You just go ahead and roll over for LEO's that break the law, but I will not.

I don't care if I have to sit on the side of the road for 4 hours waiting on the drug dog. IF they were to get a hit and find drugs of any sort inside my vehicle then it would either be planted, or an act of God.

Helomech- I am with you guys. You can't just roll over and let someone take your rights away because it is a little easier and less time consuming. If you start doing that, where does it stop? "I guess I will go ahead and register all of my guns because the government wants me too and if I say no they will make things hard for me." Then it is "Well I'm gonna go ahead and turn all my guns in because Congress has decided that private citizens should not have them. I wouldn't want to seem to be giving them any attitude."

That was the same thing that the Jews did in Nazi Germany and look what it got them.

Personally, I don't have any issues, and am very respectful towards LEO's, even the ones acting like aholes. A bad one can talk down to me all day long and I will give him nothing other than "Yes, Sir" and " No, Sir" I will obey his every command, get my ticket for whatever law I have broken, and then be on my way. But, I will not allow him to throw the constitution of this nation out of the window because he wants to look in my car.

I did some growin' up in Louisiana. My free advice is don't go unarmed. Watch your P's and Q's, avoid LE contact. I am sure this will cause someone to go off with righteous indignation, but Louisiana is largely considered to be the most corrupt state in the union. More governors in jail than Illinois. New Orleans PD is the most corrupt in the nation. Widespread government corruption is rampant at all levels. Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings, but it's the truth. I am sure there are plenty of fine LEO's there, but the bad apples are well documented.

God is so good to me.

Maybe I should change the title of this thread.

Have never been asked to search my vehicle. I would probably say no after reading this thread. I am always polite to LEO so I hope this doesnt come up.

Thanks for everyones input

In regards to searching... Do you know that it is illegal for the guy at Walmart to match your receipt with what is in your cart when you are walking out the door??? Some clown got seriously bent out of shape about it a couple years ago back east somewhere and was arrested for acting like an a-hole (not because he didn't let them "search" his cart). But since then every once in a while I will tell the person that they cannot look at my receipt and if they think I stole something they can check their security cameras. It is funny when you use the term "civil rights violation" how all of a sudden they are a little less totalitarian. Give it a try, it is fun! Just remain calm and tell them that the things you have are yours and not subject to an unwarranted search. When they call over security folks tell them the same. If they take it further (they usually won't) ask them what law gies them the right to search through YOUR personal belongings. They are yours as you have already paid for them. Yay! I love stirring the poop-pot!

I never let them look at my receipt at walmart. My wife finally got irritated and called the store manager, and they told her I was right I didn't have to show them the receipt. I would not mind if they did it fast, but I hate waiting.

ill chime in and say that i would refuse a search of my truck. My back seat is full of crap, and the last thing i want is some Barney running through there tearin up stuff, and comin up blank. So they can call the dog out, and the only thing he will be able tohit on is gun powder residue, and that would be it. So im not to worried, no point in letting them search for no reason.

yeah but 95 percent of the time when you say no sir go ahead and search your heart out, they are going to say nah thats alright have a nice day. they just ask to see your reaction and believe me a good cop can tell if you have something to hide just by your actions....so why wait on a dog if you have nothing to hide from them ?

maybe so, but ill give it a shot. Ive never been searched, i did get pulled over one time when i was 16 or 17 for speeding (my speedometer didnt work cuz the dogs chewed the wires to it). I had about 7 or 8 rifles in the back of the truck all cased up, i think he actually opened the cases but i couldnt see due to his lights shinnin in all my mirrors. Any way he jus asked if i had any more, i said yes i have some behind my seat and he said OK. Slow down. have a nice day!

BTW im gonna try that wal mart thing!

what are you 2? It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with someone looking through things that are mine.
I would also never mess with a man that can't even spell receipt.
