Just ordered a 6.5 creedmoor with a 26" heavy barrel. I will be running this with a suppressor and I'm thinking of having the barrel cut down and threaded. I'm thinking 20" or 22". Any recommendations? This is going to be run in a chassis and mainly a long range tool. I'm leaning toward the 22" but I do like shorter barrels.

What action did you choose ?
Not that it effects your main question I'm just curious.
I would choose 22" and use Morgan with DallasShootingSupply on THF for the work or Chad with Titan Weapons.

Savage 12 FV. They are on sale at Cabelas for $320 plus there's a $100 Visa card mail in redemption thing. Im going to try stock barrel first then see how it goes. I have a Mcree chassis for it.

42.4 gr H-4350, 140 gr ELD-M, 24" barrel = 2800 fps MV.
Decide how much velocity loss is ok with you.

Are you sure the rebate applies to the 12FV? It says one of the qualifying platforms is the 12FCV which is the detach mag option

I went through this same deal last year when I built my 6.5 Creedmoor. I ended up going with a 20" barrel. I'm getting 2690 fps MV with 143 ELD-X and 42.3 grains of RL16 in Lapua brass. That gives me an effective range for shooting targets of 1300 yards and plenty of energy for hunting deer and hogs. I'm very happy with the performance in such a handy, compact rifle.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

I run 26" barrels on both my Creedmoor's and 6.5-06,but have 20" barrels on my 260 and 260 AI. It's fun trying to hunt out of a blind with a 26" barrel and a 9" can attached to the end of it,that's why my hunting rifles have 20" barrels.

That's a great buy specially with the 100 dollar rebate.
Now as the barrel goes you will lose roughly 23fps every inch u take off roughly. I had my Bighorn Action 7.5 built at 24in finished and still bit too much for my deer stand with my Omega supressor.
So I bought me a Savage Axis 6.5 to cut down to 18in to accommodate my supressor and box stands. It's gonna b a great shooter for those under 600 shoots

Someone on TexAgs called the rebate company and it sounds like the rebate works for this rifle. We'll see.

In jeremys rifle, and another friends rifle, it seemed on average they gained 40 fps running the Lapua brass with the same powder charges.
In my opinion, the 6.5 creed is a legit 1k yard gun with a 20 inch bbl, after seeing in in person.
