Hogs are outta control. Gonna make a pen around feeder that will keep em out. But also be a pen to catch when i have time.
What type of panels? Minimum height?
I built a simple guillotine door today.

35 inch hog panels should keep them out. Might get some jumpers though when you turn it into a trap. They go crazy when you walk up sometimes.

I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

In my opinion you cant make one that fits both uses well. Short enough for deer to jump in is too short to hold hogs in and tall enough to hold hogs in is too tall for deer to comfortably use.
Deer are really good jumpers, but they in general in my observations do not like to jump fences. I have seen them do it all the time, but I have also seen them go under through or around every chance they get.
It's hell eatin em live

5ft. Should be fine. I built 4 corral pig traps with gulliotine style door last year. Read all articles, baits, trigger devices. Settled on tire trigger which cuts down on false triggers. Didn't take long for deer to figure out to walk through door vs. jumping and with tire trigger not likely to set off. If they do just jump over panel

I've been having some problems lately with hogs getting over cattle panel height. I have a couple open top traps, one a large round affair, and one 4x8...both with 56" panels. Deer seem to have no problem getting out of either trap, but large hogs occasionally do too.

By building and using corral traps a lot of time, effort, and learning was in my future. Every week something new presented itself. For instance squirrels love to chew ur plywood doors, why, they have a forest full of trees but like ur doors.4x4in square mesh panels are recommended. I built one with 2x2in.square mesh 20 ft long horse panels. Makes a great trap except for the fact if ur inside with a hog whose supposed to be dead that springs to life that 2x2 in square is worthless for a toe hold to scale a fence. If ur my age jumping a 4 or 5 ft fence is a fantasy even with the motivation of a feral hog behind you. Yes in deed, u will learn. 4x4 in squares are highly recommended!!

Regular hog panels will keep them out but if trap them they will climb it and some will get out after you start shooting.

I agree, once the shooting starts, they will climb in a hurry, or the smaller ones will get through the panels that have larger holes. I've seen quite a few running away from my corral trap over the years. I'm always wiring up holes and doing repairs.
