Yes that is my back porch that doubles for a duck blind when the water is up. The woodroes will fly right by the porch if the conditions are right.
I quit shooting deer years ago but you can see the feeder in the waters edge. During the winter the deer come from the river bottom to feed and play in the back yard. I found some hog tracks under my window after the water flooded them out of the bottom. Pretty kewl place to be.

Well the snake pits are about 40 yards to the left of that photo. In the photo you can see the snake factory.

Anyway, looks like a sweet place, congrats.

Sometimes to find them all you need to do is open the back porch door. I was hoping the river would stay up long enough to put the mud boat in and go play but I doubt it will still be up when I get home.

Well thank you. I was gifted by divine intervention, no joke. I happened to obtain the place 10 minutes after it was listed. The folks I bought it from had inherited it and owed a bunch on the taxes. They just dumped it to get the county off of their hiney.
I had been looking for a house for over a year and everything had fallen through. I had stopped in front of this place when my telephone rang. While speaking on the telephone I was looking at it asking why something like this was not for sale. Pretty much knowing I could not afford it and feeling sorry for myself (not good by the way). Hung up the telephone and drove back to my apartment. My phone rang again and it was my real estate agent. Said a house came on the market and told me to go look at it. I said not no but heck no. I told her I had been in the truck for 8 hours looking for houses that day alone and I did not want to look at another house. My wife drove up while I was still on the telephone and I asked if she wanted to go to dinner and look at a house. She said lets look at the house first then go to dinner.
I didn't even pay attention to the address. We drove up to the gate and I said I will be damned, I was here an hour ago. I asked what do you think so far. She said I want it. We didn't even look inside the house. We called and said come here right now with a contract. We haggled and got it to where we thought we will lose it if we try to haggle anymore. My sister (real estate chick) arrived and asked what I was thinking by haggling and told me to write the check for their asking price right then and there.
to save the entire story I believe it was divine intervention. I jnever would have been able to afford the place had it not been for the lowered price. It took some years to get us out of financial hard times. We struggled hard and finally we are making it good. It was worth it.
That is why I get so bent out of shape about the mishandling of our funds we pay to the government. The funds thiey piss away without really consulting the public in whixh they thieve the money. I really get bent when the county doubles the tax value of the property in an attempt to raise the tax bill by 10 % every year from that year on.

That's MY American dream.
I want to find a couple acres somewhat close to Dallas and build myself a house on it.
Congrats Wal!

I will tell you this fellas. There is not a day that goes by that I don't realize I was very blessed. Being the police I don't make a whole bunch of money. It never would have happened had I not had some help from above. If I do experience a day where I don't remember it was a gift from above then I need to sell it.
Yes sir it is a good drinking porch. Coffee taste better when your watching the river go on by. I have had a few adult beverages but had to give that up. I hope those doctors are right because I sure miss getting hammered.

A wise man (or maybe a drunken relative, I don't remember) pointed out the fact that there are a lot more old drunks than there are old doctors.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh now I get it. I need to get my doctor hammered so I can start getting hammered again. Oh to be honest fellas I was a heavy drinker up until a few years ago. Things just caught up with me. Started drinking for all the wrong reasons and wrong times. It started to interfere with living if you know what I mean. I have a dear sweet wife and I would never want her to have to worry about my drinking so I backed way off. I backed off so far I can't handle the hang overs anymore. besides that I have to much going on to nurse a hangover. I stay very busy everyday and I can't slow down. I am on the 8 year push to retirement. I have had a job since I was 12. I want to go see the world before it is too late. Drinking just aint going to fit in with that program.
