We Just applied for a Texas Youth Hunting Program Hunt at the Bamburger Ranch Preserve in Blanco County of the Hill Country. The hunt is in February so it must be MLD. It advertises Deer, Exotic, and hog. Any one know anything about what Exotics might be available, or deer as far as that goes? Just curious as that is a long way to drive for a weekend hunt? All input is greatly appreciated.

Thank You
Robert

that ranch is one of the most impressive ranches in Texas - Mr Bamburger has done an amazing job of restoring this property - I would go there just to get a chance to see the ranch

Well I looked at the website and it says nothing about hunting or what wildlife is available. I'll bet that they host youth hunts and such as a means of conservation. This would be a cool trip even if you did not get the chance to harvest any thing. Now I hope he gets drawn. laugh

There's sika, fallow, and a few axis in that area. Whitetail don't usually get any bigger than 120". If you get to go there see if you can tour the bat cave.

They stated that there would be a tour of the ranch, so maybe that will be included. We have not been selected, but have high hopes!!!

If the place is managed they can get quite a bit bigger than 120"

The Selah bamberger is on the edge of the pedernales valley that will have some good bucks

Years ago I had access to a ranch that bordered Bamburger. There actually weren't very many whitetail, due to exotic competition and anthrax

X2! I'd just love to see the place, closest thing to TX as it once was.

It's kind of a sleeper place, it's located on a half chip seal half gravel road between 290 and 1623. Nothing fancy about the fence or gate. You could drive right past it and never give it a second thought. Very pretty ranch though it's bigger country for the area.

It was 80's-90's. I also knew of other hunters in the county that had experienced it. We weren't allowed to take any whitetail due to the low population at the time.
