I try to line them up any chance I get, but never had more than 2 with one shot. I have had 2 ducks with one shot in the air before, I try to line them up in the air as well. But a group comes into the deeks, dove or duck, I let them land, go for the skillet shot with first shell, then kill more as they fly off. Howbout you.

I would share a story about a legendary skillet shot. A shot whispered to happen on evenings with an early moon rise in a light autumn breeze. In the time ever so fragile as daytime Temps remain hot and nights are cold. These skillet shots are frequented in Scurry and Borden counties. However, as I am not comfortable the statute of limitations ever expire, I can not share the specifics. I will only say, Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause. PS, the details are pretty shady.

5 BWT in the air with one shot is my best. Coolest I have seen is when my dad knocked 4 drake mallards out of the air with one shot when I was a teenager.

I have a buddy that, when you give him enough to drink, tells a hilarious story about a cold morning, just before sunrise, and a turkey roost.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Your twofer skillet shot at Mallard Honey Hole to finish our limit was a pretty good one! I got a chuckle out of it.

My best was on the King Ranch on a cast and blast. A large flock of doves came winging in and I dropped 5(yes, 5) and after all the hooping and hollering, one of my buddies said I'd never do that again. About that time another group came in and I dropped 3 with one shot. I think it still took near a box of shells to limit out.

OK, I admit I skillet shot a BWT last season. During early teal, first hunt, was solo. Was way slower than I thought based on scouting - so a typical North TX hunt. Finally had a single come right to the dekes. I was so surprised that it didn't drop on my first shot that it took me a bit too long for the follow up. Never scratched a feather.
So I sat there convinced my gun/ammo totally screwed me somehow. As I sat there contemplating how there is no way I could have missed that layup, three snunk in under the radar. I didn't know they were there until I heard the plops in the dekes. I decided I needed to pattern the load... and no better way than to skillet shoot the furthest one (away from the dekes). Yep, it turned out it wasn't the gun. About took the head off the one on the water and followed up on the other two when they jumped.

Dropped 3 teal with one shot. Then spent the rest of the morning trying to get my last one. Shot up a whole box and never did get that last bird. Lol

limited out in blue wings in one flock with two shots. The flock circled once and then kind of hovered over me and were helicoptered down. I honestly never picked out a bird. Not proud of that but it was cool when they all dropped.
Once called in two toms and they stood kind of close together. Heads high and listening. I got greedy and put the pin right between them and missed em both. Lesson learned

2 and a decoy is my best skillet shot...but that was back in my younger days when I wasn't the sportsman that I am today. If they aren't in the air it is beneath me to shoot them. Who am I kidding, I'm the best skillet shooter of the bunch I run with and that is the one shot I've mastered

Killed 9 blue quail with one shot while they ran down the road in front of me, aimed at the lead bird and got all of them. Killed my limit of ducks in 2 shots one morning. 4 BW teal swimming in a line straight at me and a pair of mallards next shot. Hen mallard was an accident, she got in the way when I lined up on her boyfriend.
Some days I'm after a quick limit and don't care how I get there. So I'll skillet shoot and water slap, hen ducks, spoonies, running quail, all going down. Other days it's more about just being outside and hunting so I let the dogs work and flush quail or I'll wait for nice drakes to go feet down over the deeks while duck hunting.
