What are the top performing 20 Guage shotguns today? I've shot Browning side by sign and gold hunter 12 Guage for along time. Getting old and time to lighten up the load and bruised shoulder come opening day.
Looking for reliable and lightnweight. What say ye?

A friend has a Benelli vinci semi auto 12g that is pretty easy on the shoulder. I would imagine the 20g version would be like shooting a 22.
Go get in the woods

Beretta A-400 Xplor. With bird shot there is hardly any recoil at all

Beretta A-400 Xplor. With bird shot there is hardly any recoil at all Looked it up. Very nice. It doesn't look like they have it in the synthetic black or camo stock. Over the past decade I've decided I prefer synthetic, It is on the list to consider. Thanks.

It doesn't look like they have it in the synthetic black or camo stock. You need camo or it will flare the dove.

Take a look at the SX3. I went to one in 20 for dove a couple years ago.
I don't know how soft shooting it is compared to other 20s. I do know that it's much lighter shooting than the spring guns in 12 that I've used for so long. It's been super reliable

This will likely be my last dove gun, I jump a pond occasionally for ducks. However, I don't crouch, crawl, or am as willing to risk what's in the weeds for ducks anymore. I'm just not as angry at'em as I once was. So yeah, this will basically be used only on dove.

Its hard to beat a good 20g O/U shotgun for dove. I have the Browning featherweight and its a wee one. (small and light as the Irish say) But thats only if your giving up on ducks though. That gun never see's the duck hunting grounds. I have a Benelli for ducks.

You owe it to yourself to at least look at a berretta 20ga OU with 26" barrels. I have the silver pigeon II. If I had it to do over I would get the black onyx. Light and very responsive. Good looking shotgun as well. Some like the brownings better. Usually if one fits the other does not. Those two are where I would start. Either one should outlast you.

BDB and Smokey, Thanks for the assist. I don't know why, but I am O/U disabled...ergo, I can't hit the broadside of barn with on. I've owned 2 Citori years ago and traded them off. Tried the Browning side by side and consistently hit birds. And, I can shoot an auto loader and hit. I'm sure it is a psychological thing, but there is something about an O/U that makes me look stupider than usual.

HOF, it's all about fit. The Citori Lightnings are almost straight stocked and have a lot of drop. The Beretta has less drop but more cast. Most shotgunners shoot one or the other well but not both. If you ever find one that fits "right", it will make you look like you are cheating. Good luck whatever you get. The bottom line is "the best one, is the one that fits perfect". When you find one that fits "your" mount, instead of you mounting to it, there is no need for a bead on it. When you mount it, it shoots exactly where you look. Short of a stock fitter, before the gun makers started including shim kits, finding a shotgun that fit perfect could be like chasing a unicorn.
