I guess it is safe to say summer is here and that the deer on my property have gone nocturnal ! Late in the evenings after Dark and first thing in the morning's.
Amazing how to heat affects them.
Has this happened to anyone else ?

Most deer are active early morning and right before dark yr around. They do move in the mid day on occasion but for the most part first couple hours after sunrise and last couple hours before dark.

If you hunted at night, you would see deer active nocturnally all year long.

I drive 250 - 550 miles a day for work.....only been seeing them late evening, at night, or early morning for the past 3-4 weeks......
Seeing them in much greater numbers than in the past few years.....
Not seeing hogs as much as I used to....weird....

Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I am mainly a public land hunter and i am setting all my cameras up over water holes. I am getting a really good idea of the herd and putting together a hit list. Cant wait for deer season!!

No deer is completely nocturnal- I always smile to myself when I hear folks saying that. A deer cannot go 12-14 hours without eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom. They will change their habits based on time of year, available browse, temperature, etc. Deer are mainly edge creatures- they move mostly around edges of light (sunrise and sunset) and edges of vegetation changes.

This depends on location

16 miles away , they only show up 12-5am

We have deer show up off and on throughout the day. Most activity is early and late. The through the night visits are almost like the mid day, one here and there, but the majority of the activity is clustered around feeding times. We do have a water trough with float at all feed locations as well so I'm sure that helps.
It's hell eatin em live

If I'm hunting at my lease, they come mainly at feeding times early and late, but you'll have your day wanderers here and there. On the public land I hunt, They are very nocturnal down by the water at night, and I catch them coming back from the lake around 6:30-7am next morning. Not a lot of evening kills on that public land, everynow and then I'll get an early crew heading towards the water where they spend at night.
