So, years ago I started using Ivermectin liquid for a wormer. Applied orally. No problems.
This year I've had a problem with fleas and chiggers in my backyard. I've tried all the ()rap they sell at the big Box Store to eradicate these vermin. They work, kind of.
From time to time, I've bought yard chemicals from "domyownpestcontrol.com", so I checked 'em for yard insecticides for chiggers. A product comes up called "Permethrin SFR". It's $25.00 for a quart of concentrate, delivered. I don't know how much a quart makes but it's substantial.
I ordered one because being a hunter, I know that permethrin will keep most six legged pests off'n you.
Turns out that it's also good for lactating cattle - which I need - horses, swine, poultry and DOGS. Kills fleas and ticks.
Sprayed the yard today and (according to directions) sprayed the dogs, which had an issue with some fleas.
If this works then I'm out on Frontline and Advantix, et al.
You guys probably know all about this. Gimme your two cents here.
thanks

Haven't had the problem in years. Ivermectin only.

I find the concentrate at tractor supply. Mix strong and spray it on the cows for flies. Rain pretty much washes it off and needs to be reapplied. I put a few drops of dish soap in for a surfactant. It doesn't replace a tick and flea control regime though.

Like the Suspend description for fleas and ticks. Once a year sounds great.

I remember years ago I'd take my 2 labs to the hardware store on a Saturday once a month. They had a large trough on the front porch filled with flea dip. I'd dunk them in the trough. But you'd better get there early, it was pretty funky by the afternoon.

My dog gets Sentinel(tablet) once a month for heartworm, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and flea control (eggs).
Ticks have not been an issue for me where I live in North Texas. Now, fire ants are another issue. It is a constant battle.

For real bad flea outbreaks you need something that disrupts the egg production. There are sprays for dwellings but nothing for exterior. Oral medications like Nexgard, Sentinel will render flea eggs unviable. I think the collars just kill fleas--they don't deal with the reproduction process. I've used Sentinel but have switched to Nexgard every other month because it works with ticks. Once you get control of the kennel situation you don't really need Nexgard monthly (It is expensive).

Just gave both my dogs Bravecto chew that's supposed to last 12 weeks. I've had very little trouble with fleas and never had an issue with ticks. I noticed my old dog scratching more than normal and found a flea.
I guess we will see how it works.

Bravecto is supposed to be very good, in fact they claim it will end certain kinds of mange very quickly. Let us know how it performs.

I've used Bravecto for the past 12 months. I had a terrible flea problem on my four dogs. I seriously don't think I've seen a flea on them since I started them on it. I'm very impressed with the results. I give Ivermectin once a month as well.

We developed a flea problem after our 1st encounter with a possum and I started bravecto and haven't seen a flea or tick since about a week after I gave Bart his 1st chew. I would say it works pretty good.

Ivomec once a month and Pet Armour plus if I notice a flea or tick on them (which is rare). And I usually give them a dose of the Pet Armour Plus at the start of bird season. We had alot of ticks on our place in Ok and it would keep them off.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
