Looking for a new call. Thinking about the Echo wood/poly timber call. Anything out there better for $50?

Have never blown Echo. There is an RNT timber call for about the same price. I bought a damage boxed RNT at Cabelas that I really like. It's a different model but is really nice. You may want to try that one too.

Got an acrylic buck Gardner spitfire for $65. Great sound, not especially loud though.

Man I've bought so many low budget calls hoping to find a bargain performer...IMO go try some out and find the one you like most. Save up cash between now and November if you have to.

I have one and a handful of other more expensive and less expensive. I would say I use the Echo Timber 99% of the time and will probably only carry it this season along with a whistle.

Haydel DR-85, Loud, cheep, and works.
Faulks WA-33 Single reed, easier to blow than most.
I have the high end calls too (Echo,RNT) the problem I have is they lock up, that's why I carry several.

double reed call like what youre talking about is a good choice for 50 bucks. I have a drawer full of rnts, echos, and some other misc junk. Wish I would've got one of those years ago.

PS Olt also makes a great call and it is very inexpensive. Someone gave me one as a gift and I use it all the time.

Go to eBay and search "echo duck call", there are a lot of wannabe duck callmakers that stick an Echo insert in their "custom" barrels. Kind of hard for them to screw one of the inserts up, so just look for something "pretty" and buy it. No reason to pay more than $40 for one.

A 4$ whistle - good for teal, Pintails, widgeon, mallard drake.
Heck almost all ducks like it with a solid mix of decoys.

I always have an extra whistle in my bag just in case i forgot my show off calls
I used that whistle 100% of the time, all season long with great success

I have some of the RNT and Echo calls but mostly use a whistle and a couple old Faulks and Haydell calls. I am done buying expensive calls, not out to impress or enter contests just get some ducks in when I am hunting them
