Anyone run with Winchester 94 in 32 sp? I have my dads.

I have a pre 64 in 32 sp. I really like it. It was made in either 1950 or 1903. I get conflicting reports.

I've got a Marlin 336RC chambered in 32 Win Spl, killed a bunch of deer and hogs with it. Last brass I bought was from a fellow here on the forum, great deal for new brass.



I like the 30-30 Win but I like the 32 Win Spl just a bit better. I shoot a 180-grain cast bullet.

RanchDog, the Winchester I have is top ejection, my old eyes needs a scope. Took to gunsmith he said I would ruin the value of the gun if I put a side mount on it.
Seen a Roosi with scope mounts on it at Bud's "out of stock". 20" barrel with saddle ring and cheek riser.

It only matters if you plan to sell.

Can't beat a lever for fun and packs a punch. I have Win94 30-30, Marlin 336 30-30 and a Marlin 444. Safe full of bolts that never seem to get out. The 444 is my favorite. I don't load, but the 265 Hornady interlocks are lights out in it.

I still drool over ChadTRG's Model 92, .22lr. Sweet rifle, addicting to shoot.

I have the Mossberg 464 lever action 30-30 with some light colored beech/birch stock. Its ok for what I use it for... a cheap, lightweight, 50 yard hog thumper. I love the slim and easy to carry profile. At first the action was really rough, but its smoothing some with use. My only other complaint right now is that it doesn't really group shots as well as I'd like. Part of the problem is the contact points along the barrel...after about two or three shots it will start shifting the impact points significantly. Also the sights...the rear notch cut-out is to big...and round; and the front post has a silly brass bead that doesn't really fit right. BUT I do like it better than the new Marlin 336 I tried at the store. I bought it for walk-n-stalk hunting thick forests with my son; where I don't want to deal with a cumbersome scoped rig.

The B-Square side mount will not harm your rifle. My dad had it on his M94 for years, this is the M94 that I'm converting to a scout, you cannot tell it had been on the rifle. If you are interested in it, I could dig around and find it. Might take me a couple of days.



As far as scout mounts go, there is the Pearson Picatinny Mount.

The Redfield Jr. IER (Intermediate Eye Relief) requires the barrel to be drilled and tapped but it will not hurt the value of your rifle, it will enhance it. I'm still seeing these mounts pass through eBay on a regular basis. They offered just the mount and the mount with an adjustable rear sight. This is mine with the rear sight.



I received this M94 back from JES on Saturday so it is now a 35/30-30!



A lot to do with it yet but I thought I might go out this afternoon, adjust the drill press, and get the barrel drilled and tapped being it's raining outside.

All the Rossi round barrel 92s of Braztech manufacture are drilled and tapped for their P892 mount. This is a Weaver style mount, not a Picatinny rail. Rossi stopped making the mount a couple of years ago but NOE Bullet Molds makes a Picatinny rail for the R92. It sits a bit higher than the Weaver mount, that is because of the specs of the Picatinny. Now, I have guys tell me all the time that they found a Rossi mount. What they found is a P801 mount for the Single Shot. The screw pattern is the same but it is a flat surface mount and you will never get your R92 sighted in with it because the required P892 mount fits the taper of the R92 barrel. None of the octagon barrelled rifles are drilled and tapped but the Pearson mount fits I believe.

Rossi has been in the process of updating and combining their levergun manufacturing facilities over the course of the year. The Rio Grande was dropped a few years ago but it is supposed to return later this year once production at the new facility starts. It will be interesting to see if they continue to drill & tap the 92s and if they will resume production of the scout mount for that rifle.

All my R92s are scouts and I can tell you that I have had a lot of problems with the Rossi mount. It is milled from a cheap grade of aluminum and is painted, not anodized. The later is important because it toughens the aluminum. Another problem is that all the screws in the mount are of the same length. Remembering that the mount is tapered, at the thicker end of the mount you will need to find a trim to length longer screws or they will strip under recoil. The NOE rail solves all of this.

I'm a diehard scout rifle shooter so the mount is epoxied to all my barrel except for the 357 Mag which uses the NOE rail. Early on, I really had some problems with the Rossi mount until I realized that all the paint needed to be removed from the bottom of the mount and screw holes and then secure it to the barrel. Some of my rifles suffered stripped screws under heavy recoil so I just ended the madness with the epoxy.

You copy that Nogalus Praire? My 480 Ruger is a scout rifle so maybe you don't really want it as I realize they are not for everyone.



The 480 uses a different barrel without the taper so the smith that did the mount for it would not do the work unless I allowed him to epoxy it which is common with custom scouts. The good thing is I've never had an issue with the setup and I've beaned a couple of deer and hogs at a fair distance with my 375-grain bullets.

There seems to be a lot of interest in leverguns and a lot of potential different subjects. Let's start posting some new levergun topics as your interest allow. It would make the firearm forum a bit more interesting!

It's a side mount, offset to the left side of center. I found this picture through a google search.

I had a Marlin 336SC chambered in 219 Zipper. Shot many a coyote with it. Now, my critter getters are Marlin 1894CL's chambered in 218 Bee, 25-20 Win, and 32-20 Win. I have been using the 218 Bee as a 22 Rim Fire replacement with Trail Boss. When RF ammo left our shelves I decide I was not going to be dependant on the "man" anymore. I haven't owned a 22 in 8 years now, never will again.

I favor the 32-20, I've killed a lot of coyotes and bobcats with it.

I've been trying to talk my BIL out of a Zipper for several years with no success. I picked up a Bee from a buddy that was broke but never got to shoot it. I couldn't find ammo or brass. He got back on his feet and I let him have it back.(with no surcharge ). One of these days, I'll have a Zipper.

I haven't had any problems with the Bee but I bought 1K cases when I bought the rifle. I shoot a cast bullet of my design. Hmmm, don't have any pictures of that little bullet but I will get some. Here is my Trail Boss raccoon and feral cat killing load.



The Zipper brass is a headache. You now must use 30-30 brass and turn the necks after forming as they will be way too thick and without that work a lot of pressure is put on the rifle. I even tried old factory ammo but most of it wouldn't ignite and what did was dangerous. I got a very nice amount for my 336SC. When Marlin melted into Remington, a fellow I know there offered me a couple of barrels in the warehouse as he knew what a Marlin nut I was. I got three; one for the SC chambered in 219 Zipper. I sold the barrel when I sold the rifle and I got almost as much for the new barrel as I did the rifle.

I love the old cartridges but I just don't know if I want the headache.

I thought about getting a 218 Bee for a while but picked up a real nice Marlin 1894CL in 25-20 and it is a lot of fun.

Captech International keeps expanding their line of brass, the old Jamison outfit, but I doubt they will address the 219 as there just isn't many rifles out there.

I have a Winchester 94 Big Bore in .307 Winchester. I'd always hoped to rebarrel it into a .25-307 akin to the .25 Souper.
