Hey y'all.

I have a friend who asked me if I wanted to buy his Winchester Ranger Law Enforcement low recoil 1 oz rifled slugs. Two questions with these:

1) Am I allowed to own these as a non-law enforcement person?

2) Are these any good for hunting, specifically hogs and deer at ~75 or less yards? To me, they sound small, so I'm worried about power if I make a bad shot.

What do y'all think?
Thanks!

1-Yes
2- Yes, but you will have to keep within your limited range.

Personally I would pass. They are very low powered.

They will work great, not underpowered at all for hunting, 440 grains at 1200 fps should get it done.

How much power do you need??

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Well.....

In my experience Foster slugs have a different trajectory when fired at 1200 fps vs. 1600 fps, if reaching out to 75 yards. If you shoot slugs enough to know your drop, it's no big deal to compensate and the reduced loads still hit hard.

I'm not saying that 75 is too far, because it's not.

Marc

Edit to add: Price may be the ruling factor. I buy my 2-3/4" 1 oz. Remington and Winchester slugs at Walmart for $12.99/box of 15. Lower when they have too many on the shelf. If you can get them for low enough price, go for it!

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

I went ahead and got them.

I'll hopefully have a happy ending to this story before the end of the year!
