What do y'all do about cleaning the muzzle on rifles with some sort of muzzle device? This mostly applies to AR's for me but I have a brake on my 308. On normal crowned rifles without, I always liked getting a patch and wiping u tip clean. Do some of y'all remove the muzzle device?
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Yes. Carbon will cake up very thick on the crown. Neglected mine, and have seen it get 1/16" thick.

I don't worry about it. I figure if the bronze brush that is cleaning the bore can't touch the carbon build up, then neither can the bullet. Mine are QD brakes for my suppressors, and therefore they are put on with Rockset. "Taking them off" is not a quick easy option. I do spray in there with a carbon remover every now and then.

I'll do this after maybe a thousand rounds, but sure as heck not every time i clean. Brash brush gets most anything that would effect accuracy.

On the AR's I will spray the brake down and just wipe it as best I can after the brass brush has been run through the bore a few times.

Kroil and a copper brush.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I don't like to remove the muzzle device so I'll just stick the muzzle in a shot glass with filled with solvent overnight. It doesn't get it completely clean but it removes quite a bit of the build up. I can't bring myself to scrape at it with a brush or pick.
I honestly have never noticed a difference in accuracy when there is a lot of carbon on the crown. Then again maybe it's because I'll clean it before it gets bad enough.

Soak it in M-Pro 7 for ten minutes. Then have a piece of hard wood ready with a good 90° edge. That'll get 95% off and won't damage the crown.

all good answers, I use a carbon cleaner and pipe cleaners or a, AR gas tube cleaner. Keep it clean as you do your rifle

Thank you, sir!
After I typed that yesterday I decided to clean the crown on my 7-08, that only shoots suppressed. I doubled over a cloth on the muzzle and rubber banded it on. Then soaked the cloth with the M-Pro 7. 15 minutes later I removed the cloth, and easily scraped away 95% of the carbon with a piece of bois d' arc wood I had in the shop. I repeated the process, and ended up getting the crown completely clean.
