My son was in charge of making sure I was all in on the draws. He called me the day after the deadline...
So, I told him I was jinxing his draw.
He drew zip. Nada!

Don't want to start a fight REALLY I DON'T but NM is actually pretty good on NR's. Being on this forum, and living in NM, I am constantly surprised by the number of tags drawn. Take Eastwood that drew unit 2B for mule deer "again", that is an incredibly hard tag to draw. I put in for it for years and never drew. Most of my buds got skunked again this year. So gotta say NM gives a better than fair shake for NR's. Just my [/quote] That's just plain funny.... when you can apply for Texas public hunts for the same cost and same odds as a resident Texan. The reason it seems not that bad for you is the fact you are a resident of New Mexico.

NM great land and animals. So hard to draw and man are they hard on NR's. Looks like I'll be looking for a tag this year. Good luck to your father and everyone else! Now Idaho it's a NR paradise and they love them some NR but 26 hour drive suxxxxxxxs 7 years? Haha I am in the same boat as a resident so don't feel bad.

The NM 2 step Put in for a Non HD unit or go with odds that you are closer to drawing HD unit if you continue

And this year was my first deer tag for 10 years. This is why I am on the THF because if I don't draw a hunt, "and I can afford it" I go to Texas. The bottom line is its tough for anyone to draw a public hunt in NM. Congrats to everyone who did draw.

Erny the point I was trying to make was there seems to be as many, or more, successful applicants on the THF than residents of NM per capita. Again my

Unsuccessful this year but I drew a 16A Elk tag last year and killed a 352" Bull so I I guess I'm ok with it.

Erny the point I was trying to make was there seems to be as many, or more, successful applicants on the THF than residents of NM per capita. Again my That may be how it feels... Especially if your a resident who hasn't drawn. The simple fact is Non residents don't get any cow tags and only 6% of remaining available tags. Residents get 84%.... That means residents are 16 times more likely to draw a tag...a 1600% advantage (leaving out outfitter pool which goes both ways). Wasn't meant to be an argument its just a fact. Thats how NM set it up we have to live with it. Thats ok. If I can find a reasonable UW tag I'll purchase one from LO.

Drew Unit 37 Rifle Bull Elk. First time applying for elk in NM. Drew a Mule Deer in Unit 31 last year, but couldn't close the deal with the muzzleloader.
Almost unbelievable that somebody pulled an Ibex and a Bighorn in the same draw. Insane.

I think it was all a part of the jinx I put on my son. Poetic justice that he drew zilch, and his friend drew the mother of all draws...
