I have a Cannon gun safe with digital combo. All of a sudden it refused to open. The safe requires a 9 volt battery to operate. New battery fixed the problem.
Just a shout out to those who might have a similar problem.... hammer

Just had a problem with my digital lock. My dumba$$ hit the wrong number twice and the lock started beeping every 3 secs. So I changed the batteries and still beeping. I go online and learn that the safe went into a safe mode where it goes into lockdown for 5 mins. I wait 5 mins and all is good! Just an FYI, if it starts a repeating beep, wait 5 mins and try again.

I change my battery out every 6 months just in case.

Been there done that. Mine locks me out for 30 minutes with no alarm. Just flashes.

The easiest way to prevent this is don't hit the wrong numbers multiple times.

I did NOT hit the wrong number any number of times. I entered the correct combo, the light blinked properly but the battery did not have enough juice to actuate the lock.

I've got where I keep an extra pack of 9 volts on top of the safe, seems like the vast majority of the time when it goes out is when Its 3:30 in the morning and I've got everything other than the guns already loaded in the truck to head out.

The easiest way to prevent this is to get one without a battery. smile My gun safe is about the only hunting thing I have it seems that doesn't have a battery.

"There is a lot of tremendous advantages to Keypad, they are very, very user-friendly. As far as security goes, there are a lot of the old-timers out there, who think that the dial lock is better. Actually it is not. This is a Group Two lock. It can be manipulated in eleven to fifteen minutes by a professional. There are not a lot of those running around, but it can be done. The digital lock the average estimated time for manipulation is twenty seven years, because there one million full possible combinations (minus one), and in addition to that there are six or seven quality digital locks out there. They are called Grade One locks. Much higher security than a group two because of the high manipulation resistance.

Drill points are very vague compared with the dial lock. Remember the dial lock was made in the Civil War, that was the first one, and it remains virtually unchanged. Trust these new electronic locks. Eighty percent of the safes we are selling have them. We think they are wonderful, it solves a lot of problems."

All I said was I don't have to screw around with a battery... nor do I have to wait 5 minutes or 30 minutes if I spin the wrong combination. tired

A professional can break into either safe without breaking a sweat.

Maybe it's just me but I would rather turn a dial on a Fort Knox safe than punch numbers in a key pad on a cannon.

I have a dial on my safe and to be honest I'd rather have a key pad. I cheaped out and didn't spend the extra $100

I have a dial on mine by choice, not because of the money savings. When it comes to wanting my guns whenever I want them out of the safe, I am fine with having to spend an extra minute to open.

I also feel like not as many things can go wrong if you have a dial over a keypad

Also, what happens when you need in and the battery is low and will not open, and you don't have a spare around?

1. Kick gun safe
2. Limp to store, buy battery
3. Limp back, install battery
