was shooting with a buddy today 22 pistols, a was wondering why are all 22s single stacked?? My biggest problem with the 22s that I have is they do not fit my hand but if they double stacked then would fit me better, and when has having more bullets a bad thing. Can it even be done???
Thanks

The problem is the rim on the casing. Same reason you don't see many versions of .357 or .44 semi autos.
Walther P22 mags stagger the cartridges. About as close to a workable double stack as you will see for a rimmed round

Ask anyone who owns a PMR-30 why a doublestack magazine for a rimmed cartridge is a bad idea.
My solution was simply to get some thick Hogue 1911 grips for my 22/45. Makes a big difference in comfort.
