Nikon’s X-MOA and X-MRAD Reticles Specialized reticles and adjustment systems in BLACK X1000 are glass-etched MRAD or MOA tactical-style variants with illuminated option. Windage and elevation turret internal travel is enhanced for long-range dialing and crisp, click-stop movements operate with no backlash and are both precise and repeatable. The X-MRAD reticle presents the shooter with clean and visually simple, yet highly functional and advanced tools for estimating range, maintaining holdovers or dialing elevation come ups and compensating for wind. An advantage of using these tactical-style reticles is that it can be applied to virtually any shooting application regardless of caliber or ballistic performance, and can be further optimized for specific shooting situations utilizing Nikon’s Spot On Ballistic Match Technology. Full Multilayer Coatings On All Air-to-Glass Surfaces With a very capable four-time zoom optical system built with Nikon’s renowned lead- and arsenic-free glass, BLACK X1000 lenses are fully multicoated with anti-reflective compounds for consistently bright, sharp, high contrast sighting at all magnifications. Turret-mounted Side Focus Parallax Adjustment Each of the riflescopes in this series features a turret-mounted side focus parallax adjustment to enable fine-tuning of the sight image without changing shooter’s position. Generous, Consistent Eye Relief and Elevated Windage & Elevation Turrets Consistent eye relief keeps your brow safe, while the exposed turrets are engraved for maximum readability while offering smooth, repeatable adjustments. Also, works perfectly with Nikon's Spot On Technology App. Nikon's No-Fault Repair/Replacement Policy for Binoculars, Riflescopes and Fieldscopes* Nikon is dedicated to quality, performance and total customer satisfaction. If your Nikon Binocular, Riflescope, or Fieldscope requires service or repair not covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty, just send it to us and Nikon will repair or replace it. * Excludes products with electric components, lost or stolen products and intentionally caused damage.

I love everything I read minus 2nd FP. I'm on the hunt for a FFP and this would have been the ticket. Looks like a fantastic scope nonetheless.

Well look at Nikon kind of trying.
Can I borrow one for a week and see what it can do?

They are, you have to admit, the last couple months introductory products like these, the new rangefinding bino, and VR (Vibration Reduction) rangefinders are strides in innovative design and right direction for the brand. agree on them trying, I like the new Leupold's too.
if they will just keep them somewhere in the lower middle on pricing, under or around a grand??? I have something new from them. I will post more on them when I have some clarification.

Jorge, if you're looking for a lower powered scope that's FFP I'd look very hard at the Burris XTR II 3-15.... All of the 4-16x50SF models have the reticle placed in the riflescope’s second focal plane The way I read it and understood it the 4-16 is SFP and the 6-24 is FFP. Is this correct Skylar?
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

A mil is short hand for milliradian. Milliradian defined is as the angle formed when the length of a circular arc equals the radius of the circle. A milliradian, is the angle formed when the length of a circular arc equals 1/1000 of the radius of the circle. Summerized it is an angular measurement. Similar to MOA in that it is also a angular measurement, but different incremental value. A common misconception is that MOA adjustment (in traditional riflescope) and Mil are linear measurements. They are not! MOA (minute of angle) is an angular measurement and so is (MIL = short for) miliradian. It is a coincidence that when MOA is converted into a linear measurement that it subtends 1.047 inches at 100 yards. That is so close to 1” that most people round down and consider it to be 1” at 100 yards. So a scope with .25 MOA adjustments translates to each click moving the reticle .25 of an inch at 100 yards. However, the fact that 0.1 mrad is 1cm at 100 meters is most certainly not a coincidence. That is most certainly intended that way by design and comes out of the very definition of the angular measurement of a radian and of the method behind the metric system. That is the beauty of the metric system: you can start with very few basic unitless measurements and scale everything from there. 1 radian is simply an angle where the subtended arc is equal to the radius, for example 1mrad is 0.001 of a radian, so 1mrad is an angle where the subtended arc is one thousandth of the radius, for example if an object at a certain distance from you subtends exactly 1 mrad, then the size of that object in linear units is almost exactly one thousandth of a distance between you and that object. What linear units you happen to use makes no difference. It will work with either of them. It is simplest to use with metric linear units because of the base10 scaling, of course. With moderately retarded measurement systems we use for traditional reasons (like inches/feet/yards for linear units and degrees for angular units)you know for common things like to measure a trailer or perhaps building something, translation between angular and linear measurements is a lot more involved. Hence, between MOA and MRAD, for as long as all you need to do is trajectory compensation, it does not matter what you use.

Buzz,
The Cliff's notes of what Skylar wrote is a Mil is a pie piece of a circle. An MOA is also a pie piece of a circle, just a smaller piece of pie.
Think degrees on both of them, not inches, feet, yards, meters centimeters. Mil and MOA are a part of a degree.

I get pretty analytical. Especially on a soap box subject as this. Thanks for summarizing my narrative.

I am currently hooked on the SWFA SS 3-15x42. It's my favorite "do-it-all" scope and its built like a tank. A manufacture needs to make an amazing scope at a great price to beat the SWFA in my opinion.

You wanted something under a grand and this comes in way under that. The BLACK X1000 6-24x50 MRAD IL is $650 retail. Pretty tough to beat with all the features. One of the reason's this scope was built is because you guy's asked for it. Yes it is a SFP scope but have a little patience and see what else shows up. I have had my BLACK X1000 for a week now nad had a ball with it. Mine is mounted on a CMMG Mark 3 CBR and it is a sub 1 inch at 200 yard gun. Big fun to shoot for sure. A friend has had one for months and this past weekend I watched him whack steel at 700+ yards using the 4-16x50 MRAD IL scope. He took a bunch of video so hopefully I can get him to share it with you guys. These scopes should be showing up in stores after the back orders are filled. 5.0 Mils per rev When I ran my gen1 razor I thought 5 mil was fine but now that I can go 15mil in one rev it sure is nice.
