Assuming u mean all brand new, I'm going to go with impossible. I have a $40 lower and the cheapest thing I've seen is a full kit, sans lower receiver, from psa for $399 with free shipping.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

You can find a complete upper for under $400, or a complete lower for under $400, but a complete rifle? I don't think you'll ever see one.

I think you're better off just saving some more money and buying a better quality AR. They aren't going anywhere and there won't be a run any time soon. You'll be better off in the long run.

yep, they are stacked like cordwood everywhere.

you will pay $$ for the good stuff but the lower end guns will drop quickly RE; the Delton

just keep it lubed, shoot the chit out of it (break it in), should be a fun plinker (ammo burner)

Yes, you are. My point was more that they just keep dropping. Saw the Ruger AR the other day under $500. If you don't have to have it right now, just sit tight, they'll be dropping another $50-100 in the next couple of months.

Yea I agree.

I have built two of them probably under $400, but I was just patient with parts and waited for it all to get low with sales.

Is the Ruger a pretty solid gun?

Not as good as the Smith, IMO... unshrouded firing pin, non-standard parts... I think the Smith is the better buy in that price range.

I dont own a ruger...I have just held the gun and had some friends with one. Felt like a solid gun and good shooter...I didnt know it didnt have standard parts. Thatd be a deal breaker for me as well.

I have a Colt, Ruger and two DPMS's. I had a Smith but it had feeding issues. The Ruger is a good gun for a great price and will eat whatever I feed it. I wouldn't rank the Smith over the Ruger, that's for sure.

I have a BCM, a CMMG, and a Smith Sport I, and friends with Rugers. My Smith eats whatever I feed it. My friend's Ruger went back because the pins fell out of the gas block. Many QC issues reported on the Ruger forums. The Ruger also does not have a lined or treated bore... add in the unshrouded firing pin and I don't see how anyone would rank it above the Smith.

Oh, you haven't owned a Ruger. I see. My Colt has been back to the factory too. That doesn't mean it isn't a good firearm. Glad your Smith works for you because mine was a disappointment.

No, I don't own a Ruger AR-556, but have handled them, shot them, and tore them down side by side next to my others. Don't need to own one to see that it uses a carrier with an unshrouded firing pin and that the pins holding the gas block fell out on the bench when we were shooting it. Don't need to own one to read forums and see others having the same issue. Having one go back, it happens... having a bunch go back for the same issue is a QC problem.

I also notice that you are trying to take me to task for not liking a Ruger after seeing one with issues first hand, yet you dismiss the Smith because you had one that had issues...
