Another question: Historically I have purchased the five day tag when I came to Texas to hunt axis and hogs. I want to bring my 20 year old grandson out to hunt in April. My son looked at the Texas DNR sight and thinks no license is necessary to shoot pigs. Your thoughts? Got my answer! Thanks

I believe everyone must have a license to hunt, hogs included.

yes, you have to have a hunting license to hunt hogs and exotics, whether resident or out of state Feral hogs are unprotected, exotic, non-game animals. Therefore, they may be taken by any means or methods at any time of year. There are no seasons or bag limits, however a hunting license and landowner permission are required to hunt them. A hunting license is not required for depredating feral hogs, if a landowner (resident or non-resident) or landowner's agent or lessee is taking feral hogs causing depredation on the landowner's land.
Taken from TPW website: hunting licenses, stamps and permits- exceptions

And the if he takes anything back to his home state it becomes a Lacy act violation. Federal felony punishable up to $500,000.00 and 10 yrs in prison. Sure seems like a 5 day dirt cheap license is cheap and worth the price.
