............Miley was really pressuring me this evening to go play, but it was already dark when she decided we just had to go out and play. Out to the garage we go and I grab the Dokken Mallard and thought "man she'll never find it in the dark", boy was I wrong. Apparently this is a good training exercise. She seemed to love it. We got out in the front yard and I would throw it off in to the darkest areas of the yard and I would hold her for about a minute and send her after it. She always found it with ease. I don't know a lot about a dogs vision but they must be able to see in the dark better than we do.

Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Dogs and other animals have a tapetum lucidum which which reflect light back through the retina making more light available to the photoceptors. This gives them better low light vision. This also reflects light out that you can see by shinning a light into there eyes at night. Any animal thats eyes glow at night have this, humans do not.

I throw marks for my dog at dusk, up until its about the same amount of light as morning legal shooting time. At first it started by accident because I could only work her after work and dinner. Now sometimes I make a point of it because she needs to mark those early morning birds when we are out hunting.
