I am a Mathews owner and I love mine, I would however agree that Mathews went against everything that they have always stood for this year with their new line-up. I dont bash other brands as I think most are well built but my point is if you want to mouth off(do it intellegently with some facts or shut up)

When a bow cost over $730 are you really get the best bang for your buck??? Just a thought.

Yes. Most "quality" bows start at $600 and go up from there.

I don't think I have EVER heard a legitimate reason that Mathews "sucks". So, I too would be interested to hear valid, factual (not based on opinions) reasons or information that would explain why people say that "Mathews Sucks"...

I wouldn't go as far as to say that the company sucks. It's just not a bow for me and I don't think anyone should just go out there to buy a bow or piece of equipment just because they shot only their buddy's such and such bow so now they think that's what they need.

For those of you who think you have the right to bash any bow brand, what makes you such an expert? The bow you own means nothing. The bows you've owned in the past mean nothing. YOU don't get to decide what's right for everyone else. So, take a seat and shut up. Find something more productive to argue about. Go do something to bring more people into archery instead of trying to tear someone down who's already there.

x2 Kevin good post. Bring more people into the sport for sure. Everyone takes archery for granted. It is a privilege not a right.

I have to agree on bashing a product, but I do want opinions on products ,problem people have with bows ,hard to shoot ,easy to shoot, quiet, smooth. We learn a lot from that and also help the new shooters to pick there equipment
Three things Mathews did extremely well
Convinced the public single cams with high let off were better
Built a good feeling bow
built a quite bow
This being said I dont like the Mathews for a number of reasons but I am not going to list them .
If anyone wants that info pm me
Ron

There are a number of quality bows out there for each of us to shoot. I happen to like steak and potatoes, and I eat the skins of the baked potatoes, and others think that's weird. What do I care? I like brussle sprouts too. If you don't like brussle sprouts, don't eat them. More for me.

Same goes for bows. If you don't like one in particular, don't shoot it. But, just because you don't like a particular brand of bow doesn't mean that no one else can. It doesn't make you some how more correct because you shoot the "right" bow (in your humble opinion).

I have had a number of bows of different brands I've really enjoyed over the years. I happen to shoot a DXT now and consider it one of my all time favorites. You guys that don't like my DXT don't have to shoot it, or look at it, and hold eat, or anything else. So don't try to beat me down because I own a Mathews or two. I've also owned Jennings, Browing, PSE, and Bear over the years. Some of which I've really liked, others I didn't like so much. But, the choice is mine to make. Not yours.

Look at it this way: if we were all the same they'd only need to make one bow.

I am not beating on you so much Ron, you're not trying to bash Mathews because you've nothing more important to do. I am talking to the Mathews bashers who think it's some kind of sport. They need to take a minute and realize they are really just bashing archery in general and doing nothing to further the sport of archery in these actions. It's like watching 5 year olds in a sand box.

We think a lot alike. I have owned a lot of bows and very few were duds.
I think something that is missed a lot in bows is the expertise of the shooter. You really have about three levels
Brand new and has to go buy advertisement and friends views,The biggest group ,guys that are hunters shoot for a couple months aa year to get ready to hunt.
Then there are the addicts that shoot all the time breath eat sleep archery.
The same bow want fit the bill for these shooters,if you dont have the form you will be inconsistent with a really fast high let off bow.
This is a whole different topic I think I will start a thread on this.

I shoot a mathews and understand that there are some bows out there that can argue are as good, but I can't even begin to see where some people on this forum are saying that a PSE bow is even in that same catergory. It seems to me that just cause mathews is by far and away the most popular bow on the market everyone wants to argue that they are overrated. JMO!!!

Definately a lota hype for just name. Is all preference though. Everyone is different. Almost bought a Mathew, but chose the cousin to Mathew, a Mission. Feels better in my hand. Good luck to everyone.

I really don't care what I own. It will get shot right before season to check my pins and to make sure everything is still tight and in place on it, then it is time to hit the woods. If at one point you were that person that would fling 100s of arrows a day, the form and accuracy doesn't seem to go away.

I shoot a Bear but I want a Mathews even though I've never shot one. Maybe it's marketing or just cause thats what everybody tells me is the best but one of these days I'm gonna get a Mathews.

Yeah, if you a hunting over a feeder at 20 yards Mathews will do the job. If you are actually going out there and hunt, I wouldn't put a Mathews on my hands. I want as fast as possible. The Switchback XT, Outback, and Q2XL were all nice bows. Not smokin fast, but decent huntng bows. Pretty smooth on the draw as well. I killed a ton of stuff with mine. but when I changed from sitting at a feeder and shooting 20 yards to hunting trails going from bedding to feeeding areas with no feeder sitting at a known distance, I wasn't having as much luck as I had before, so I went to a lot faster bow and the sucess picked back up. In addition to that my tuning time and aggrivation went way down knock on wood I have been able to tune all of my X forces in under than 10 minutes where I used to spend hours trying to get my mathews to tune. I don't have to worry about what broadhead I am shoting (fixed or mechanical) my X Forces put them in the exact same spot as a field point out to 60 yards. And that is huge in my book.

Single cam bows are known for being smooth and quiet, and up until the Reezen Mathews kept producing smooth quiet bows. I found the reezen to not be as smooth as I thought it shuld be, and I think the Monster is even worse. IMO they need to go back to what got them this far and stop trying to make speed bows.

Man there are people doing this with a recurve, so speed shouldnt be an issue. Sounds like user problem, Mathews is a great bow and and its been a provin bow.

I don't recommend that approach, you won't be happy in the end. There are too many really good bows out there these days to do that.

I love my Mathews DXT, but I didn't set out to buy it. I actually wanted a BowTech 82nd Airborne. I shot a lot of bows and purposely skipped anything with Mathews name on it. After shooting umpteen different bows, including the X-Force, I saw a Mathews that had to be shot. I shot as many as 20 arrows out of all these different bows, and just wasn't as happy with them as I wanted to be. I picked up the DXT and shot it three times, then pulled out the credit card.

The bow picked me. That's how it should be. Find a bow that picks you - in other words, the one that you just don't wanna put down. Brand means nothing these days, there are too many good bows out there.

Whether you end up with a Mathews as I did, or any other bow, you'll have absolutely no question whether you made the right choice - you'll be shooting the right bow for you.

HunterTed: How about a 65 yard shot that killed a trophy antelope in Colorado with a Mathews DXT. If you caint judge animals past 20 yards maybe you should shoot a faster bow. You prefer a PSE, I a Mathews its all good.

How about it. There's not 5 guys on this forum that can make a shot like that. Or would even take one. I never said it couldn't be done with a Mathews, I said I aint gonna do it with a Mathews. And I do shoot faster bows. Way faster than a Mathews. It's what I prefer. My pin gap for 5 pins is the same or just a little smaller as it was for 3 pins now that I shoot a X Force instead of a Mathews. I've owned plenty of Mathews had about 9 at one time. And I killed a ton of stuff with them, and rarely missed, and I've killed a ton of stuff with my X Forces too.

less tuning time, faster, just as quiet, more kinetic energy, yeah I'm shootin a X Force every time.

I have had Hoyts, Mathews, PSE, and A few Elites. They are all great bows, but it comes down to the old saying; "It's the indian, not the arrow that matters"!!
