Are these worth the money for a donor action or do I look at a Ruger American? I'm looking to "build" up another 6.5 Creedmoor for either me or my son.

Build up a Tikka T-3.
I have twice and will be doing it again this year. The two I have built up, have both put down thousands of rounds, one is on its' second barrel. Neither have given any trigger trouble, cycle smooth as silk, and always eject. You won't get that out of any Savage.

I would would say build from XP ii worth the extra for accu-trigger. Spend the extra 200-300 for tika or go with the savage.

If you want to do the work yourself stick with savage or Remington for the barrel nut . If it were me I would step up to a 10 or 700 to build off.

Remington has a barrel nut?
TCB, if you're happy with your first CM why not build another off the same action? P_102

Not sure why you would "build" off an Axis? Maybe I'm missing something...
Axis II XP is a really nice gun for the price, but if I were going to build something I'd start off a Tikka, 700, or Savage 10/11.

If you could find one, build off a savage 110 action not an Axis. If not, from what I have heard a Tikka would be a good action also.
