Really depends on the terrain and your neighbors!

Has thick brush and open costal field. 2 deep ponds, seasonal creek and good elevation changes. No neighbors hunt that I know of right now.

I hunt on a friend's ranch just SE of Cross Plains. It is as you describe, thick post oak and some open areas. There are lots of hogs, some nice deer but they avoid me during hunting season. His neighbors also do not hunt, must be a local thing. Everyone I have met there was very nice.

I have a smaller place, (77 acres) about 20 miles east of Cross Plains near Carbon. It's also has thick timber and a coastal field with very little hunting pressure from neighbors. Hunting is really good for deer and turkey. But because of all of the acorns, you will need a good food plot to be successful. That's just my opinion.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

I own land SE of Cross Plains, and my experience is a little different than others. Every place big enough to park a truck has someone hunting on it. Deer numbers are decent, mature bucks few and far between, turkeys making a come back, and completly over run with hogs.
Thank you...thank you very much

Friend, I wouldn't harm thee for all the world, but thou art standing where I am about to shoot.

Hunt a place just south of town (165 acres). 10 years ago I was lucky to even see a doe all season long. The population has definitely picked up. We have taken 1 buck per year off the property over the last 6 years all in the upper 130 range and all at least 4.5. I prefer to hold off until 5.5 years old but I cannot convince dad to do the same. Like everyone has said, it all depends on the neighbors. Ours will shoot anything.
