I've hit a doe with a .410 slug from about 30' and that thing hit like a Howitzer. It knocked her a couple feet sideways and she fell right there.

I know a guy near Centerville who uses .410 slugs, along with other types of rounds, one had three discs that shot out first and was followed by 5 .30 caliber pellets, it would kill any hog any size, but it was always within 50 yards for a slug, and even closer for the shell that had the discs.

I've executed a big bunch of hogs with the .410 slug option out of my Judge. All were head shots, from less than 20 yards, and mostly on trapped animals that were in a very high state of agitation! It only took one shot to put 'em down.

Cool, its nice to see folk mix things up for a challenge. I have an old 9410 thats more fun than a barrel of monkey's. I'd like to find another.

Hope them .410 slugs are cheaper than 12 gauge. Grew up on a .410 and 20. Wing shootin. Was happy to go to the 12 until I priced slugs. Always dread buyin them thangs. Used the .410 slugs years ago. Think they were 87 gr. Leaded. Was always amazed that the little things were so deer rifle sounding. Brass case over plastic please. Anyday.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

They don't give them away. When you have one in your fingers you feel cheated.

When Bond Arms started making derringers in .410 and then the Judge came out the price of .410 ammo started rising.

I have a Winchester 42 that just sits because I can't afford a box of ammo.

Federal loads 000 buckshot loads that at close range is very effective. That is what my judge gets loaded with. This ammo is unique in that the shot is held apart by a molded wad that holds the shot apart so it is round when it leaves the barrel. Form the Judge it patterns well and inside 20 yards or so is quite effective on hogs.

.410 shells are manufactured to shot through a standard length barrel. Shooting in a Judge or derringer, most of the powder is burned after the slug leaves the barrel. Shoot one at night in a Judge and one in a .410 shotgun. Notice the difference in muzzle flash.

Yeah, I'm not using a a short barrel, anything with cyl gap, or a 45 Bore for shooting 410. I think such could really degrade the already debatable performance.
I really like the Lever Action 410 because its like a rifle.
I think from here on out, I'm just gonna tell everyone to buy me 410 Slugs and I-Tune cards for gifts.

Sounds like fun but 410 shells are not cheap.....

The foster slugs at Academy are the same price across the gauges but you just feel short changed with the little 410's. Guess I could start reloading.
