Just wondering why? Seems like there is $ to be made with them. Whitetails are just a hobby now everyone has them. But don't see many sheep?

They are expensive to get started with good genetics. They are not that easy to raise. They can hurt you when trying to work them. Most animals that bring good money have a reason why they do.

Ok. Y'all need to take up a collection in an effort to pay me to keep out of urials. It's a proven fact that if I begin raising a species their value drops 50% the following year.
So, start piling that money up. I'll tell you when to stop.

So, start piling that money up. I'll tell you when to stop. How much for you not to start raising Ibex? I require a certain amount in annual base income to fund my modest lifestyle. The individual financial burden will be much less painful if you recruit other breeders of super exotics to share your support. I recommend contacting those raising kudu, sable, bongo, markhor, as well as your ibex buddies. It's not my intention to bleed my hosts dry, just to recover my investment losses from pere David and eland. Both of which were $10,000 animals as trophies when I decided to jump in those markets.

Last year I sold a pair of kudu for $17,500, not a lot of people have that sitting around and if your looking to start raising a lot of your start up cost is buying stock, and mostly everyone I know that has the super exotics won't sell females, and broke horn kudu you can find at a decent price

I think I would rather invest in Arabian oryx than the sheep. Sheep just don't do too well here. I think we have too much clay and not enough rock and I hate trimming hooves.

Interesting Curtis. I never had to worry about trimming sheep's hooves with the exception of aoudad. It's the goats that seem to have trimming issues. Aaron-Ibex and Rickey Hunt would have interesting views on that issue.

Aaron-Ibex and Rickey Hunt would have interesting views on that issue. We had mouflon for the first six years we were in operation. Every year it was a problem. We tried different protein and no matter what, if we had them on the ranch for more than a year we could count having to dart one or trap it and have to trim the hooves or live sale it somewhere else. We bought all of our mouflon during that time from a guy in Weimar and I don't know if he even sells them anymore. All I know is for us, it was more of a pain in the butt. Then also I know lots of people that tell me how they have problems with blackbuck or fallow or axis and we have no problems with them at all. For some it may work well to have sheep and/or goats but for us it's not worth it.

I'm betting Larry Wick was the Guy you bought the Mouflon from? that IS interesting! not disputing your Word at all, but I have owned upwards of 500 Mouflon and never had a lick of trouble with them, especially their Feet??

Yes sir, and I know your reputation as well with the mouflon. Our area is not the hill country. The only rock we find is either in the creekbed or on the gravel road. We had the same trouble with the varieties of Corsican and other sheep as well.

Around 6 years ago I bought 4 Mouflon ewes and 2 rams. Now 6 years later I have one ram and 2 ewes. And so far in 6 years I have sold 3 rams and no ewes. Not a good investment for me. I don't have hoof problems just coyote problems.

I don't have hoof problems just coyote problems. I know about the coyote problem. Donkeys are NOT the answer there. Our donkey stomped our first set of mouflon twins to death the day after they were born. The donkey was gone the next day!
