*I may not have referred to the exact name of the parts below, please don't grill me on calling something the wrong name.*

I'm having some issues with my 1100 and a chamber/bolt release issue.

I think I've diagnosed the issue to be a missing "interceptor latch retainer".
Can someone with an 1100 look at your to confirm that there is some kind of retainer/clamp on yours. This is located inside of the carrier release. You can see it once you depress the release (where you put a shell into the mag).

I've attached a picture to show what I'm referring to.

Mine doese not have anything where I believe the "interceptor latch retainer" should be located.

Basically it's a snap ring that is missing I think. I just want to confirm that it is supposed to have one there.

I had the same problem some years ago. The metal right there is soft, and though I had the gun fixed, it would never stay fixed. Gunsmith finally told me to sell it after he fixed it one more time. I did. Remington 1100's have a use life, and you may be approaching the end.

If you plan to shoot it a lot, I recommend that you sell it and get a new one or get a different shotgun.

I've had people tell me that you can't wear out an 1100. You have to shoot it a lot, and I really did, but they will wear out.

Thanks guys, got the "retaining ring" replaced for $0.35 at hardware part store. Hopefully that will solve the issue. Seems to cycle fine now. Haven't shot it yet though.
