I'd build as big as you can afford.. 6, 5ft high x 16ft panels would be a minimum.
Don't go under 5ft high cause big hogs will jump it.

perimeter size matters, deer don't like small enclosures, I wouldn't go less that 35' across, imo
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

I used 12 pig panels. I believe most of the pens where I hunt have about 12 panels in a circle. some hold a protein feeder as well as a corn feeder.

I don't have a protein feeder in mine but I use 8 34" x 16 foot hog panels and have yet to have a pig go over or under it. 5 foot is overkill and pricey. I wouldn't go any smaller than 8. The bigger the better.

10 - 14 16' x 34" hog panels arranged in a circle, t posts every 8'.
I use 12 to 14 34" hog panels, never had a calf, cow, bull or hog get in one.

Cattle panels (16' x 50") are cheaper than hog panels (16' x 34"). I use 10-12 cattle panels & cut a few sections a little lower.

Digging under is my problem. We build our pens a minimum of 60'x 60' or 3,600 square feet. Before sinking the t posts, we mark out our perimeter then use a small trencher to cut about a 6" deep trench around the entire perimeter. This makes sinking the t-posts easier and, once done, the bottom of you panels will be about 3-4" deep into the soil. Never had anything dig under this set-up. For pre-existing pens, you might try affixing a Predator Barrier along the bottoms of your pens to deter the digging under.

We use the hog panels, well, because they are hog panels and they work exactly as they are designed to work. I have found that 8 panels or 32' sq works just fine in the Panhandle. Did someone above say that hogs could jump 5' tall fencing? I gotta see that!
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

We made our feed pens out of cattle panels for the same reasoning and regret it now. I would use hog panels. Bigger is always better. A buddy had theirs all fenced with 4 panel square pens and never had a problem, but I would think bigger is better.

See it in all parts of the state.

I have seven hog panels around my first protein feeder. I chose seven because that's what I had down there. I think ideally I would like to have eight to ten. Even with seven panels I see quite a few deer in there at time. I've seen deer eating from all four tubes a lot. I recently installed another protein feeder and have not fenced it. Like my first one the tubes are tall so I am just testing it to see if the hogs can reach them. If so I will be fencing with standard hog panels as well. So far none have got through or over them.

It's not a matter of hogs reaching the tubes. It's the fact that they WILL dominate that feeder for the pellets deer and coons leave on the ground. Big hogs will quickly learn that they can rub and bang their bodies against the legs of the feeder to keep the buffet coming. If you have hogs, better go ahead and build a pen. Otherwise, they'll ruin what could have been some good deer hunts.

My son and I sat speachless for a good 10 min wondering wth we just witnessed. Don't know that corn is intriguing enough for them to jump in, even at 34"..

I built mine according to the video previously posted by A&M except way larger. Pigs had been making themselves at home under my protein feeder all night long and very little deer movement. I put up 11 of the panels and have not seen anymore pigs and increased deer movement. I even have some young bucks bedded down inside the enclosure so I believe it is perfect. I am still curious to see if this years fawns can actually get over the 28" access points.
