So I have been looking for awhile now for leases with free range exotics and its been harder than I would like to find something. Figure fine if I cant lease then I will just have to bite the bullet and buy some land.
Question is what area is the best for land with a variety of free range exotics? I know the hill country is very popular but id like some more specific areas if possible. Example.. Leakey? Hondo? Medina? Junction?
Any suggestions?

My buddy has land near Menard with blackbuck and axis.
There are axis all over the place basically anywhere north of San Antonio (blanco, Kerrville, boerne, Fredericksburg, etc., parts of comal county...)
Individual places may be hit or miss. I have land on the Gillespie/Llano county line and there are axis north, south, east, west of me, but we don't get any. Probably only a matter of "yet" though.

To further confirm you are looking at a property that has exactly what you want. Feel free to ask the salesperson/broker/landowner for 3 years of previous survey (helicopter or trail camera) data in addition to harvest photos. If they can't provide that data you can always procure a helicopter and fly it yourself as a full survey or pseudo survey. Sept. - late January would be idea. If you are going to invest in land, make sure you are getting exactly what you want. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Edwards, Bandera, Kendall, Kerr, Gillespie and Real are going to be the core counties for free ranging exotics. You may see some in Northern Median, Uvalde and Kinney County.
Really, outside of that, they are going to be where you find them.
There are good populations of axis around Possum Kingdom Lake, Mason County as well as a few others buy by and large the counties I've mention are going to be it.
I have a ranch for sale in Bandera County that has a great populations of Aoudad & Sika and Axis travel thru there from time to time. 5 miles up the road I hunt on another place and we have lots of Axis but no aoudad or sika
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
