My new custom built .300 Win Mag is about to be done and I never shot a 300 before and I like some info on what you .300 shooters prefer in bullets and powders for some deer / hog hunting up to heavy game / 800 lbs. I have some H1000, RL 19, 22, 25 , IMR 7828, Retumbo and H4831. I like the Nosler Ballistic Tips, Bergers, and Sierra Gamekings. Just not sure where to start. Please guide me in the right direction. Thanks

Sure most any of the bullets you listed would work.
My favorite hunting bullet ive shot out of my 300 (a wby 300) is a 200 grain partition. Best accuracy I have been able to get was a 220 grain round nose. Currently have it stoked with 165 grain accubonds and have not shot a critter with it. Favorite has got to be the 200 NP's.
So far I have shot 180 grain factory wby spire points 220 grain hornady round nose interlock 200 grain NP 180 grain barns x (original x) 150 or 165 grain GMX
It's hell eatin em live

Depends what you want. If you want extreme distance go higher grain for bc. If you want a bit flatter go 190-200 area.
I shoot a 190 accubond lr at 3050 fps

I am just now trying the Hornady 220 grain ELDX in my 300 win mag. Should be at the range in a couple of weeks.

Which bullet and powder for a 300 WM is one of the largest open ended questions. The options are endless. Which one depends on what you want to do, and powder depends on which bullet you choose. Personally, I'm running a Hornady 225 BTHP at 2800+ fps for the high BC and ultra long range I'm shooting them at. A good dual purpose bullet for hunting/target is the 208 A-max. And the new line of ELD-M and ELD-X bullets are good. Berger VLD's and Hybrids work well, also. It just depends on which flavor you want at Baskin Robins.

I've killed three elk with my .300, using a 165 or 180 gr Nosler Accubond. It also seems the faster you push these things, the more accurate they shoot.

Im running the new Hornady ELDX 200 over 72.7 H4831 and it's nails out of mine. 24" barrel. I ran 79 grains of H1000 under the Nosler 180BT and was OK. Not as accurate for me as the above

I see the Hornady ELD X 212 bullet has the highest BC of .663 Just ordered the 178 and 212 ELD-X , 180 Nosler Ballistic Tip, and the Berger 210 VLD Hunting bullets to start off with and see how they perform. Redding Type S set and Redding full sizer die as well with some Norma brass. The 178 ELD X and 180 Nosler Ballistic Tips can be used for the .308 as well. Thanks

1 in 10 is the norm. Likely have to get specialty high end barrel to go to 1-9 or 1-11. 1-10 will handle most of what one would want to launch. All the the bullets the OP posted will be no issues out of 1-10. I'd love to hear about the performance of thew 212 eldx. I'm so locked in to the accuracy the 200 is giving me not sure I'd want to change but let us know.........

200 gr ELDX has been performing well this past year on elk from 300-800 yards

I took a moose with the 200 ELD-x. at 100 yards, great performance with a sizeable exit hole. Shoots sub moa in my Tikka and I didn't get any better results handloading so am sticking with the factory loads. I have too many other rifles to play with at the range that are more fun to shoot than a light weight 300WM:)

I shoot 150 gr Scirocco II with IMR4350. With this load, I was able to get a muledeer at 413 yds and another at 375. I've bought 178 ELD-X and really anxious to try those now. A lot cheaper than the Swift bullets. Actually, I got really good results just shooting Remington 150 Corelokts too. Mine is the Sendero.

Out of my Browning abolt stainless stalker, I run the 180 Sierra Gamekings with 71.0 of IMR4350 and a CCI-250. Both the Aoudad at 541yds and an Elk at 590yds tipped right over. Neither the rifle or the bullet are anything fancy, but they just plain work for me.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I don't shoot anything lighter than the 208 amax in my 300WM. I'm going to switch to the 212 or 220gr ELD-X when I run out of the amax.

Man I'm shooting hornady superformance 180gr gmx and I absolutely love them. 180grains at 3100fps and nearly 4000lbs of kinetic energy.... kills everything super dead. Just bought a couple of boxes of 165grain to experiment with, will let you know how they do.
