I picked up a Blackhawk bipod last year from Academy Sports for $49.99 and it wasn't on their website like a lot of stuff you find on the shelves at Academy Sports. I also tried the Caldwell ones too which were not that bad. They both pivot side to side so you can lock it in level no matter where you are shooting. I used them on my AR15 and Remington 700 30-06 and didn't have any problems with them.

Save up a few bucks more, and go with a Harris. I've had three of the Blackhawks, and all have failed. The price is right, but in the long run you get what you pay for. If you're going to be using it fairly regularly, and especially if you "load" your bipod while shooting, pay the extra and get something that will last.

my caldwell pivot is great I pounded it last year never took it off. don't think you can go wrong with harris, but trading an old recoil pad for this was too good to pass up. i think it's maybe 50 retail?

I have a Caldwell non-pivot on a 30-06 that's held up great. Also have a harris swivel, and minus the swivel, there really isn't much of a difference

Spend a little bit more and get a Harris. Caldwells are good and will be ok if you don't shoot much or smaller calibers. But on my .308, it didn't last as long as i was hoping. I shoot a good bit, but not so much that it should fail in a year or so. Have two harris now and they are a lot more robust and have lasted longer. Just ordered a LaRue modified Harris for my new 6.5 in fact. Should be here in a day or two!!

Caldwell has done fine on my wife's 243, but you can definitely tell the quality isn't as good as my Harris.

I have two Caldwells. Not sure what the difference is, but one seems cheap while the other is great.

I am not a big fan of a lot of Caldwell products but I really like the Caldwell Deadshot Field Pod that I picked up last year. I use it in my 4x8 blind when my buddy isn't hunting with me and sighting in the crossbows. I have also used it with my boresighting kit and laser boresighter and it's held my firearms in place. Definitely worth checking out if you live in West Texas and make those long shots when hunting.
