Doesn't look like any badger I have seen. Sticking with baby bobcat. Would have to be crossed with a Dachshund with those short legs.  You know what I am going to agree with you and say a young Bobcat. Not built like a badger after I zoomed in and lightened it a bit more. The face color does not match a bobcat but will have to agree.  Although there are a lot of badgers throughout the great state of Texas, I am hanging with stx on this one, baby Bob. Think about it, badgers have long snouts, distinct long white patches on their face wide space between their eyes, legs are even shorter with long protruding feet and claws. In the original (OP) picture look at how far its left ear extends out, badgers have shorter ears. Bobcats eyes are closer together. Do you see any of that in the picture  Here Kitty Kitty Cropped and magnified.  Young Badger  So all of you Waffle, syrup and butter serve me up folks, how do you like your

How is there so much opposition here? It's clearly a badger. If it was ANY kind of cat, the legs would be way longer especially for its body mass. These guys are all over Texas, if you look hard enough!

How is there so much opposition here? It's clearly a bobcat. If it was ANY kind of badger, the legs would be way shorter, the body mass would be much wider with longer hair, the eyes would be further apart because of the wide nose bridge, the ears would be shorter not clearly sticking out like a bobcat. Its obviously a young bobcat turned a little sideways giving it the appearance of being shorter and fatter. These guys are all over Texas, if you look hard enough! There we go I FIFY

Definitely a badger, no question about it. I killed one in Mason, TX several years ago. My grandfather, who has lived there for 83 years was in awe. He has been an avid hunter for over 50 years and never saw a single badger.
