A buddy of mine has been told bringing in acorns and scattering them around you're feeder on private property is illegal. Anyone ever heard this ?

Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

That's what I told him. If that was the case corn would be illegal as well.

Doesn't work in my area anyway. I did that several years ago and those acorns stayed there for over a month. Even the hogs wouldn't touch them till the corn ran out. Heard they prefer the green acorns and once they brown, they won't eat them.

I'm pretty sure it's true in other states where baiting is not allowed. Even if there are acorns in the area, you can't move a pile of them to your stand. BUT in Texas, perfectly legal

It's so incredibly effective it SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.
I put up a feeder in my residential neighborhood in Houston and tossed 5 acorns around it. Killed a 190-class within minutes. And I live in an apartment.
Amazing so few people try this time tested technique.

Baiting is illegal in most public lands, like in the National Forests, but on private land, it's OK. I like to go around my neighborhood and gather up acorns, and scatter them where I hunt, but this year I'm on a lease where I don't need to because there are a ton of oak trees in the river bottom.
Alcohol,Tobacco, and Firearms. Should not be a government bureau. Should be a department store.
