Ive been a member on here for a while. Still lurk around and check out the forum a bit, rarely post anymore. IMO in the last year or two (ish) it seems like alot of the good hearted fellas moved on for whatever reason, and were replaced by people that I didnt csre for as much. There are still alot of the old good uns, but not as many as there used to be. Also FB groups are easier to see and more regional for me.
Oh and as far as the lack of ducks theory.....not true. My home lake is terrible right now, has been all season. Venture out to new places. Put miles on them wheels. They are here, just gotta find out where here is. Look up Einsteins definition of insanity and then apply it to duck hunting....quit sitting on the same lake every weekend hoping for new birds to show up....take the party to them!

I'm sure people smelled a rat on that one. The way the title was worded did not jibe with a military-age female wanting to go hunting.

Even so it's the constant barrage and banter that new guys and others receive by those who think they are the elite. I've run into people out hunting and at retail locations and strike up a convo and when you mention this forum I usually get the "I hate that forum because of the elitism and jack@$$es." Type response. Just saying that I think many people have been run off due to that type of negativity. Just my two cents though! I'll have to agree with you on the teenage emoticons though!

No its all my fault. I should have never mentioned any laws thinking I was looking out for someone else.

The new guys say the problem is the elitist older members who run them off. Older members with an issue blame moderators or the ignorant newbies.
You ever see a duck hunting forum that ran smooth? If you don't know the etiquette of duck hunters on a forum, you get trampled. You post a photo and people are looking at the properties of the photo to announce where you were hunting - they probably never had any intention of hunting your spot - it's just done to jack with you. It's tough to find a middle ground that works. Public duck hunting and the Internet are a challenging combination.
Right now, a little slower is not necessarily a bad thing. It's definitely easier on our moderators.
Just as an FYI, the moderators aren't out to get anyone. What they do is usually to try and keep the peace. People are always talking about cliques on a forum. The folks who appear to get away with more are the people who are easier for the moderators to deal with. When a moderator contacts someone and asks them to chill a little, the one who says "no problem," usually has no problems with the moderators. The one who tells the moderator to stick it where the sun don't shine will probably always have problems getting along on a moderated forum. Usually the only time moderators are a member's problem is when the member makes them their problem. Moderators are volunteers and would prefer a smooth running forum where moderation is only occasionally required.
The good thing is, even if the posting is a little slow, there's years worth of knowledge archived in this forum.

So did anyone else think of Ivan when they watched that? I have to hand it to them. That is a long time to be in a fight.

I know a few great duck hunters that used to post on this forum regularly but just got tired of the bs from some of the other members who just like to get on here and harass people, and then promote their own guiding service, and they had their little cronies as well that couldn't shoot a duck unless it was landing on a 20'x15' pond with 25 decoys on it. Just got old dealing with those guys I think, and the lake naming always popping up is annoying. Hell, one of the main Texas duck hunting Facebook pages is being shut down because of the non-stop lake naming and the fights that come with it.
Bottom line is (and I told my cousin who is a HUGE duck hunter this this past week) DUCK HUNTERS ARE CRAZY!
Say When.....
