20 years at the company earned me a 1500$ gift card balance that can be used at Cabelas. I'm torn between putting the 1500$ on a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 280 AI or spending $899 on a Tikka Super Lite in 308 plus a good scope. Caliber isn't critical-I'm covered from 22 Hornet to 375 H&H. Just looking for an Ultralight rifle that I can get close to with the 1500$. What's the verdict?

Kimber.
The Tikka stock leaves a lot to be desired.

Tikka and a nice optic is my choice. The new Tikka T3x are great rifles and you will have plenty left over for a nice piece of glass.
I currently own 2 stock Tikkas and they shoot lights out.
Let that be a lesson to y'all, if you take Fireman's shooting class he will turn you into a Tikka fan. He let me run his Tikka and it was all down hill after that. I already had a Mil/Mil scope but I'm sure that would have followed suit if the circumstances were different...

If your not getting a Sako which is what I recommend then for sure a Tikka The stocks on Tikkas do feel cheap but you get a high quality precision sub moa guaranteed Sako barrel and the trigger is nice also. The stock is something that can be easily customized but personally I like a cheap stock because it gets banged up and scratched when you hunt hard. I love my sako black Bear. 20.5 in barrel and very light with a great feel and excellent trigger. I dont think there is a better hunting rifle for outright feel and craftmanship. It feels good because the stock on these sakos are very soft feeling and comfortable. Awesome stock!

Tikka and Razor LH 3-15. That would be a featherweight rig.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

Kimber Montana. It's plenty light and handles well. You would still have some cash to put towards glass, maybe a 2.5-8x36mm VX3. To each his own but putting a huge scope on a Kimber defeats the purpose.

I went with Kimber for a lightweight rifle and also because it's threaded. Annoying how the other pencil barrels aren't.
My Kimber 84M definitely holds 1 MOA 3 shots with factory ammo.

Cheaper rifle and good glass.

Put it towards something really nice. Get the Mountain Ascent to commemorate the 20 years. Don't buy a cheap rifle.

To each his own but putting a huge scope on a Kimber defeats the purpose. Already have a Montana in 308 and a Longmaster in 30-06. Was wanting to go even lighter than the Montana just because.

Like I said, I'm pretty well covered from end to end. The Mountain Ascent is just a specific itch I might need to scratch. Or maybe an Adirondack?

Should be able to snag a sako a7. That's one I regret letting go but it was super light and a hell of a shooter.

This would be my choice as well.

Or the Leupold 3x18 VX-6...you might have to fish $200 out of your pocket difference for wings and extra on the scope...but your set up...
