I was in Bear Creek Park in Keller Friday and I noticed the amount of Ducks and variety way above anything I have ever seen there. Usually Mallards, a few gadwalls and a couple of geese. There were Widgeons , Mallards, Pintails, Gadwalls and Shovelers. Estimate 6 to 7 hundred ducks also 30 geese. The kicker was a van with a Peta sticker on the back window, the were throwing out corn into the water and on the ground. I approached them and asked if they were feeding the Ducks and they said yes. They said they were doing this at multiple city parks around Grapevine to keep the Ducks away from the lake to prevent them from being hunted. Is this like Hunter harassment by trying to interfere with hunting or just feeding Wildlife? Sorry about naming the lake but we all know it's there.

You should have pulled out your hunting rig, told them "thanks", and then set up shop right there on the bank. The salt you could mine from their tears would be worth thousands.

They'll go broke trying to feed 6-700 ducks on corn.

They also talked about going to get permits so hunters could not get them. The younger of the two said they had all the homeowners asso. on board to get as many permints as possible to shut hunting down on the lake.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

What's sad is I'm not trying. I don't know much about public hunting for ducks.

If we dont kill ducks, they will take over the world. Havnt they ever seen Alfred Hitchcocks, the birds. We're just saving their little confused peta lives. Drawing birds away from normal activity with the use of bait, should be illegal. I would bet this could have impact on natural eco systems. Duck and geese numbers must be regulated. Ask any wheat or corn farmer.

The mentality/thought process of these people makes me sick.

Call the game warden and get their thoughts.

That would be about as successful as the "photo safaris" that were going to put real safari hunting out of business in Africa after that famous lion got killed. When the money stopped flowing they opened hunting back up in under a month.

There's really nothing to worrry about here unless they start shutting down hunting in places where it's currently legal to hunt. The mere fact of someone feeding animals in one location will not impact the overall numbers. There's not enough people and corn in the world to feed all the birds. All they will do is draw a few away temporarily.....maybe even increase the overall numbers by a little bit. If they want to go feed ducks in the park, let them go ahead. Just try to keep every bird fed and on one lake.....just try.

i only shoot ducks out of self-defense, the ones that died were coming right at me and in a threatening manner.

I like laughing at the people of PETA.

We all love ducks. We have that in common with them. I love them plucked and roasted an that's where we start to disagree.

If they really wanted to cause hurt they could go out to duck hunting areas in the evening and throw down corn, then notify the game wardens including federals.

If they want to get arrested for hunter harassment, filing a false police report, baiting migratory game birds and I'm sure a GW could think up something else, they can feel free to try.

Still means you can't hunt that hole until 10 days after all the bait is removed.

First idiot gets caught doing this the rest will stop. There are always a few that are brave in a group like that. Get rid of them and the rest fall in line relatively quickly. Either way I wouldn't worry about what they are doing, they can't be everywhere, everyday of the season.

There is nothing illegal about putting grain out for the birds. It only gets illegal when you hunt over it.

wow......up to hunt, fixing breakfast, set my pad on the counter to check the news and scan a few sites on the www while my eggs are cooking, and what do I find?...... pollution.

Hunting ducks is a heck of a lot different today than it was just 10 years ago. If I encountered another hunter in the field, 99% of the time we had a lot in common. The effort and preparation to hunt successfully wasn't something you could do on a whim. Run into another hunter humpin gear in the middle of BFE in flooded timber, in tough weather, more than likely, you had a lot in common. Nowadays, what I read on the web from other hunters, and what I see in the field, is more often than not dysfunctional. Ive invested a heck of a lot of time and effort to make the most of something I enjoy. What I'm seeing isn't good.

I don't watch TV for a reason. Social media that is mismanaged, with little to no emphasis managing content, defining informative, constructive dialogue, is worse. It's toxic.
