Shot this buck on Thanksgiving day 2015 at about 3 PM. I had watched a short tined 8 come through and watched him go into the tree line. I was just thinking what a sorry season it had been that far when I saw this one pop his head up, looking directly at the blind. He was clearly spooky and hadn't quite busted me but was scenting the air getting ready to turn tail when I got a shot off with my 30-30. It's a dang good thing that smaller 8 had come through because I wouldn't have had my gun up or gotten the chance if he hadn't- this guy wasn't staying around!

I am a little disappointed with my taxidermist for not leaving the notch he had in his ear. My fiancé shot a buck a few years ago and they made sure to leave the split in his ear so I just assumed they would. Partially mu fault for not specifying I guess...

Taxi thinks he would score high 140s and just maybe touch 150. I don't know, what do y'all think? He's the biggest buck I've ever seen in person and certainly ever shot.

My trip with Pink out to HWY's was excellent and I got a great buck and a doe, now I got my mount back... it's just good times here!

Thanks everyone, I am very proud of this deer. Taking him on Thanksgiving day at our new property was really special. He's the first buck ever killed here. the 30-30 is the one my late grandfather gave me... so all in all very sentimental.

IF I am measuring correctly (big if here...) he is almost exactly 18 inches. That's on the inside between the main beams. I will ask the man to help me out with it!
