For does. Looking forward to it. We get to select our compartment 2nd. Thinking Lone Canyon or South Middle
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

The eastern pastures have more whitetail. OX seems to be one of the better WT pastures. Shorty is small but good as well.

Better roads. We actually picked 2nd as well. The guys that picked first chose one of the mule deer pastures the furthest northwest. One of them shot a mule deer doe fawn.

I have hunted Whitetail at Matador 4 times. I have hunted Ox, Shorty, and Suitcase on the west side and seen a lot of Whitetail I have also hunted the west pastures Samson, and East Aeromoter. There are Whitetail in those pastures also but limited road access and the rough terrain make getting a deer out pretty tough. I have never hunted the middle pastures lime Lone Canyon but will select them if given the opportunity. I was drawn for the 17th - 21st doe hunt this year...am really looking forward to it. Good luck FoxTrot keep us posted

Is it a white-tail only or either species hunt? I was under the impression WT only.

Idiots. Please elaborate. Myself and I'm sure other folks would like to hear your reasoning for the above statements. Because mule deer does are not legal on any of the available hunts. If you are going to hunt where both species are available you are going to need to be certain in your identification of your target. There are also certain ethics involved with the killing of a fawn, any fawn, but especially a mule deer fawn with only 250K mule deer in the entire State. I just attended a private lands draw hunt and they actually talked about killing fawns. On an antlerless hunt out of the available deer to be taken, seven were buck fawns. The hunt boss said if it continued, they would seek other options for their hunts. The trouble with fawns, it is tough to tell what sex they are but they are definitely not a reasonably mature doe. I hunt both private and public lands for mule deer, the private land is MLD. I've never seen a mule deer antlerless permit issued. BAG LIMIT Two White-tailed Deer; Either Sex; Limit One Buck; Buck must have an inside main beam spread equal to or wider than the ear tips or at least one unbranched antler. BAG LIMIT Two Deer; Either Sex; Limit One Buck; Buck must have an inside main beam spread equal to or wider than the ear tips. Antlerless deer must be White-tailed Deer Only. BAG LIMIT One Mule Deer; Buck Only; Buck must have an inside main beam spread equal to or wider than the ear tips. BAG LIMIT Three White-tailed Deer; Antlerless Only BAG LIMIT Two White-tailed Deer; Either Sex; Limit One Buck; Buck(s) must have an inside main beam spread equal to or wider than the ear tips (Limit One) or at least one unbranched antler.

The Palo Duro canyon antlerless youth hunt is whitetail or Mule deer. Thanks! So is Sierra Diablo, interesting. Can't imagine getting locked in that WMA with a youth during that late December hunt!

They kept the mule deer doe fawn and donated her to a needy family. The guy was sick about it.
