https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOvHn-PH0dgFirst time I've had an otter show up while duck hunting. I've had a few beavers and nutria swim into the decoys but never an otter. He ended up getting pretty close. thought I would share.

That's awesome! Ducks or no ducks, that would make my day for sure.

Just another one saying, duck tastes terrible
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

We had one come in today. It was slow so let the dog go play with it. Funny stuff.

Had a pair come thru our set up several years ago. Water was bout knee deep and they were pushing some water I tell ya. Those things can really move. They would go between stands of cattails and just rip it up once they were in there, like they were fighting or trying to catch something. Turns out they were just playing or something Very cool animals.

We've got a bunch in SETX. And no I'm not confusing them with nutrias but we do have a million of them as well.
I'm with GK because I like salty old dudes.

Just a FYI... River Otters will eat the crap out of dead ducks on the water. Had a family living in my wood duck hole for a couple of years. Kept making point blank shots and not being able to find the birds? Next thing I see is a dead duck scooting across the top of the water on its back at light speed! Those things have some major teeth. They could chow the bird in a couple of minutes.

OK, this is a big coincidence, but the other day I saw this thread and thought about how cool that was. This morning, I kid you not, I saw what I thought was a beaver coming by the dekes. As its head went under I could see it didn't have a flat tail. I'll be darned... after all the times I've been hunting dux I had the first otter in the dekes I've ever seen. I wasn't smart enough to have my phone handy. And it didn't hang around and scope out the dekes.

Thats awesome Larry! Sounds like it's more common than I thought. I 'm glad something takes advantage of the cripples and lost birds.

Nonono not cripples.... not lost.... the very easy to get dead birds while im wading out to get them.... its a bit better than when its over 60 degrees... then you gota beat tha reptiles to them
