I scoped for hogs all summer long with very little success. They showed with an incredible vengeance in September. Historically, I'd kill a couple then they'd pretty disappear. That is not the case this year. I'd kill one then he'd be replaced by 10 more. One - in particular - has figured out how to ruin my feeders. Due to some other things going on in life, I really haven't had much time to hog-proof my feeders...especially with hunting season here and me wanting to see if I couldn't catch up with a buck. The patience - and the hard-earned $$ spent on feeders - paid off a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't tell that the feeder had been busted early that morning. When I heard it go off I knew something was awry. The same 5 does showed just at day break. The feeder went off with a 'clap clap clap' then they immediately left. I started texting my wife about what happened and that I'd head on to work. I looked up as I was pressing send and there he stood. Not a Cabela's Cover Page buck but a really nice Hill Country 8-point nonetheless. Come to find out he just showed up the night before I found him. Any idea how old he was??

Now time to do some hog hunting.... I've tried trapping the sucker but there's no way he'll enter the trap. In one week I have >3,000 pics of him eating corn around the trap. Never once at the door. And he's a night owl...back to lights and sleepless nights, I guess.

Maybe try brush around the trap. Use soured feed, make sure no human sent left, get some rotten apples just suggestions.

Nice buck! Did the hog jump up and pull the motor off with his mouth? That looks like coons could have done it too.

Nice buck! Did the hog jump up and pull the motor off with his mouth? That looks like coons could have done it too. Twice. I have pics of it somewhere.

Very nice hill country buck, congrats. I would guess him to be a 5 year old.
