I just spent two days hunting with Lonnie Paul Walker on his Brown-Logan Ranch in Santo, TX. If you were to use the 1-10 scale for rating outfitters I would have to give Lonnie a 10. HONEST, hardworking and a pleasure to hunt with. Lonnie has a fun and personable personality and I am very pleased that we are friends. Now on the serious issue of hunting, Lonnie knows that 3000-acre ranch and where the deer are most likely to be because he has worked for years improving the property, clearing senderos, food plots, feeders, stands and scouts it almost daily. During my hunt the deer in North Central Texas had completed an early, first rut and were not easy to pattern that is when Lonnie’s intimate knowledge of the ranch was most valuable. The actual hunt: At each stand location that I hunted (4 stands) I saw deer, many small bucks and does, coyotes and turkey, one bunch had 41 birds in it and of course there are hogs, I will po[font:Arial]st the “Hog Nightmare” story in a different forum section. In the middle of the morning yesterday I shot a very good 10 pt. buck at about 100 yds. (I haven’t scored him yet but will as soon as I have a chance.) Not the best shot I have ever made ¼ away and turned even farther just as I pulled the trigger. I found the blood trail but did not push the deer, texted Lonnie who arrived and tracked that deer in some of the densest brush I have seen in this part of TX. He found the buck dead as we had expected but he traveled about ¼ mile. I will post photos. as soon as I figure out how from my new iPhone. For an affordable hunt on a well-managed ranch I would highly recommend Lonnie Paul Walker.[/font]

Glad you had a good hunt with Lonnie! We hunted with him a couple of years back when he was still at that "other" ranch and had a blast. I was hoping to book a hunt this year but time and money just wouldn't match up. Great guy that goes out of his way to get you on a good one! Anxious to see pics!
