Hunted Briscoe in McMullen Co. Very hot. Lots of tall grass. Hunted 2 hrs in am. and 2 in late pm each day. Moved 20+ coveys each day. The last 2 working puppies only. Lots of immature birds, saw chicks still in down, lots of bumblebee sized birds. Several 40 bird coveys.

Wow that's the same County as mine. Can't wait until it cools down, just too hot for my dog.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

South from Fowlerton. Briscoe keeps a tremendous inventory of grass. Never seen the place overgrazed. In wet years the buffel grass is a problem.

Do they still have the baseball size gravel on the roads?

Howard County opening day moved 4 coveys in 2 hours. Too hot to hunt by 10am. Grass burrs by the bazillions. Gonna be tough on the dogs but seems to be a good many birds. Cover is excellent. Not going back until it cools off. A good frost would help some, a good freeze would be better, and a little snow would be great.

Cottle county, three hunters and no dogs. Killed 35 birds over the course of the weekend. Lost count of the coveys. Never seen so many birds in my life.

I believe that is southwest of us; closer to 6 24. We are on the western border of the county.

Glad you enjoyed it, for some reason the check wasn't in the mailbox.

But we had fun and I learned quite a bit from you guys. If the weather would've cooperated and I had boots for my dogs it would've been better. I guess mucho rain means mucho sand spurs. Look forward to more trips when the weather cools down.

Hunted near Childress. At dawn lots of birds calling...I thought I would never hear that many again in my lifetime. The cover is too thick to hunt on most of the ranch but I did hunt for few hours in a grazed off area and moved about 8 coveys and lots of singles. Until there is a freeze, it will be tough to find dead birds.
