It's that time of year again when I start blowing my call whenever I'm driving to get back in the swing of things. The problem is I'm wary of developing bad habits and bad tones just going off on my own all the time like this. Does anyone have an instructional CD they can recommend? I've seen the RNT series on Amazon but the online reviews are mixed. Thanks for any tips.

I have been using Youtube on my phone and playing through my Aux cord.

while hunting remember,,,, the more you blow it the more likely you are to make a mistake and drive them away. Less is better.

Tip- go to the nearest boat ramp where folks feed the ducks. Listen. You will hear every sound a real hen mallard makes. Pay attention to cadence and tone. 90% of folks blow too many notes in hunting situations.

Thanks everyone. I don't call much but tend to be OCD on learning and practicing. Last year I would drive around with YouTube videos going and then started getting data usage alerts from AT&T - for that reason I'm looking into those disc things kids don't know about anymore. I've also found some real duck sounds on iTunes but it's not really enough.

The RNT Cd is good but part of it is about competition calling. If you get one I would hang on to it. Butch Rickenback on it. He passed away earlier this year. He was a true pioneer in the duck hunting industry. I have both of their CDs and will pass them down to the young hunters in my group.
I still think the Buck Gardner CD is the best for basic calling.

I'm pretty new to calling as well. I bought the Buck Gardner double nasty from Cabelas that comes with a DVD, hand held call coach, and an instructional CD that i keep in my truck. Also agree with going down to the local pond and listening and that most times less is more...
