Can someone tell me what the best place would be to buy fencing tie wire? What is the common term for this? Galvanized utility wire? I asked a guy at home depot and he couldnt find anything besides some really thin wire and the tractor supply in my town only has electric fencing wire in stock. Any help is appreciated.

Go to tractor supply or feed store. Don't buy from lowes or Home Depot.
God is deep but he is not complicated.

Might try a True Value, feed store. Lowes and Home Depot sell tie wire for rebar, not galvanized will rust.

What are you calling tie wire? You tying barb wire to T post? They make clips for that or just use heavy gauge galvanized electric fence wire. If you are talking about the twisted wire that holds the strands apart [stays], any place that sells fencing will have them.

You're looking for galvanized 9 gauge wire. AKA 9 wire. They have it at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace, True Value, Tractor Supply, etc.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Tie wire comes in different sizes. Most fence companies use 9 gauge wire or 12 gauge twisted cable wire to tie "H" braces. They use either 14 gauge or 16 gauge tie wire to tie barb wire or net wire to pipe posts. You can buy tie wire in 10# or 100# rolls at feed stores or hardware stores down in South Texas. If you are buying fencing materials they will have it.

Hint: Standard barbed wire is 12.5ga. 9 is thicker than 12.5 OP, I've built quite a bit of fence and 'tie wire' is what we'd use to secure barbed or net to round posts (usually pipe corner braces or line posts). I'd use galvanized wire that comes in 10# rolls in 13-14ga size. No heavier than 13ga. 16 ga can also work, but it's a little light, that's basically just electric fence wire. I usually double wrap my tie around the post, especially with lighter gauge wire. I wouldn't buy the black tie wire (not galvanized) that comes in little rolls, it's used by concrete guys to tie rebar and won't last as long in a fencing application. https://shop.mccoys.com/building-materials/concrete-products/wire-ties/p.06049162If you mean to secure barbed or net wire to T posts, use T post clips: http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/t-post-clips-pack-of-50

When it absolutely has to hold, I'll split the two stands of barb wire and strip off the barbs. It is a grit your teeth day.

[/quote] Grandpa built fence for a living, that's what the leftover rolls of barb wire were for, then the t-post ties came along, they are ok, but don't know that he would have approved. His favorite was steeples into bois d'arc posts

I have been looking for the 14 gauge galvanized wire for the past 2 days and cannot seem to find it locally. The only place I can find it online is at agri supply here... http://www.agrisupply.com/gauge-galvanized-merchant-wire/p/11273/If anyone knows where I can get this stuff in San Angelo that would be great help. Thanks, I buy a 1/2 mile roll of 14 gauge electrical fencing wire(not hi-tensil) at Tractor Supply to use for tie wire. If you have a McCoys they will have the 14 gauge wire.

Half my feed pens are held together by tie wire I try and leave a couple heavy gauge pieces stuck up like a spear to gut a Goat also
